Following a relative's death, a man and his wife head off to the remote village to inherit their house, unknowing of the bizarre experiments they conducted with a neighbor in the village that has unleashed a horrifying monster which is soon terrorizing the populace there, forcing them to kill the creature before more are harmed. What did everyone think of this one?

So, is it any good? I haven't seen it, and I don't have TCM, so I doubt I will get to. The make up and the threatening nature of the creature looks pretty sweet for its era, though

I'm in the same boat as far as not having seen it, but fortunately, I do have TCM so I'll give it a look, which I was going to do anyway.

Sorry, HNT. Saw it last night and it's really not worth it. The film is just an utter bore, as nothing really happens at all. It's just basically a repetition of one of three different scenes: the villagers give them the cold shoulder, the local doctor gets upset at them for no reason or everyone is sitting around talking about the death of the first person. The monster attacks don't even start until the 55-minute mark, the creature isn't revealed until ten minutes into the finale, and we break up the action to get the full back-story revealed to us before it starts up the action again. The Gothic flavors are still in full effect, though, and it manages to get some good action towards the end, but it's just so deathly dull you'll fall asleep before it gets to the good stuff.
I'll give it a 2 for the look of the creature and their Gothic home that burns down, but there's far better Hammer's out there.

Too bad. I was kinda interested in a Hammer film that did something other than the Dracula, Frankenstein cliches. Wish it had panned out

There's actually a lot of other good Hammer films without the Frankenstein or Dracula angles. Their Mummy films are pretty good, The Curse of the Werewolf is one of their best ones, The Devil Rides Out and The Gorgon both have solid moments and even their series of Psycho-esque thrillers are really good, mainly Taste of Fear and Hysteria. I've never seen Nightmare but I've heard that was the best of their entries anyway so it looks like there's some others out there that are worth watching.
