Well, it's quite simple:
Does the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre still scare you when you watch it?

helll yes it does. There are a couple of scenes, particularly the sledge hammer and meat hook scenes that are incredibly effective. They leave all of the gore to the imagination, but are scarier for doing so. Watching a woman's face as she writhes in obvious pain on a meathook is a lot scarier than a scene full of fake blood where the actress just looks silly

I'll vote yes as well, since it is my second-favorite of the originals even though all I pretty much find interesting is the chainsaw-chase through the woods. I jumped a good couple feet when I first saw him roaring out of the underbrush with the chainsaw blaring on the soundtrack on my first go-round, but to me, it's always been more of a boring drama in the first-half and not really scary but generated more a feeling of unease in the second-half. I wouldn't say scary, but just more deranged than anything.

This is probably the ONLY movie that still gets under my skin every time I watch it. I always feel uneasy watching this movie. I don't think I will ever lose that feeling (and I hope I don't). So yes, still scary.

A testament to it's undying power I guess. It terrified me as a kid,and although it doesn't quite get that effect from me these days it's still probably the one film (besides Henry maybe) that gets a negative reaction from me.

The only thing that really sets itself up for feeling of unease on my end is the dinner sequence, but that just goes on forever and isn't really scary, just more deranged than anything. I don't think it's scary at all, even on the first go-round.

Some scenes are creepy to me but it doesn't really scare me anymore. If only I was a kid again when every horror movie was scary and seemed like something you shouldn't be watching.

Funny, that actually kept me from watching them when I was a kid, I didn't think I could handle all the blood and gore since all I saw was the cover artwork showing blood-soaked monsters, mutants, zombies and so on, which looked like stuff that I shouldn't mess with. It actually turned me off from them rather than get me interested.

Yeah this one is still effective I'd say.
