Well, it's quite simple:
Does the original Halloween still scare you when you watch it?

I'm going no again, as I never really cared for it at all the first time I saw it and preferred the sequels easily over the original, which I think is just getting by on it's reputation and the fear of being bashed for saying your true feelings about it when I don't really see too much beyond inspiration that keeps it around.

Yes, there are movies that still scare me a lot. They are rarely horror films, though. I mean, watching war films can scare the hell out of me. The Hurt Locker, for example, had some scenes of the bomb squad that really put me on edge, got me to identify with the soldiers on display, and really upset me. Similarly, Irreversible challenged me to think about the way that I love my girlfriend, and how easily that happiness (the best and most important thing in my life) could be stolen from me. A movie with really no horror elements in it, Dead Man Walking scared the crap out of me. More so in the last year because I was doing work on a capital murder case and preparing for a trial that I had last July. I saw that movie again, which was always a powerful and emotionally wrenching experience, and this time I was just paralyzed with fear that I might fuck up and get my client the death penalty (in actuality, we got a straight not guilty verdict and he was aquitted!!!!) So, yeah, there are films that scare me, but they don't have traditional monsters or bad guys in them.

I get what your saying. Movies just don't do that for me anymore though. They can disgust or maybe disturb me on some levels with the imagery they use, but I wouldn't use the word 'scared.'

Yeah, I get that too, man, but like Hider, I'm not really affected by films really. I don't really tend to go outside of Horror and the stuff I do chose (Kung-Fu, Action or Giant Monster films) aren't gonna deliver those kinds of experiences because of the subject matter within. I guess what I'm saying is, the stuff that could doesn't and the stuff that might I tend to avoid because it's not something that interests me.

I would say no. Its strange because I never watched any of the Halloween films until like six or seven years ago. I guess its better late than never.

I've never been scared by a movie.
