So, this is only going to be for the original films; pretend the sequels, remakes and so on don't exist and only use the original films for this:
Which was your favorite of the four original films?

Wow, tough to choose between three of these (always found Friday the 13th kind of boring, except for the excellent effects). I think I have to go with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's the movie that scared me the most. A Nightmare On Elm Street is a close second though. And not many films effectively build up suspense the way the original Halloween did.

Awwww, can't we have an all of the above option? . I'll really have to give this a lot of thought, before I come back with my answer.

I like Halloween, TCM, and ANOES all pretty equally but I'll give Halloween my vote because it's my personal favorite of the three. I agree with Jen that F13 is the weakest.

F13 is clearly the weakest in my estimation as well. I absolutely love the other threel, and completely enjoy the opportunity to turn any of them on and relax. For my money, though, I think it is probably gonna have to be NOES that I enjoy the most. Halloween has some brilliant building suspense, but I am just not crazy about PJ Soles at all. TCM is also an amazing film. I think it is so brilliantly done. There is an element to it that is so raw and mean that it can really get under my skin even today. I choose NOES, though, because it is the perfect combination of genuine scares and plenty of fun and entertainment value. Its one of my all time favorite films

The whole purpose of the thread. That said, this to me is a no-brainer F13. The only one that has some merit to begin with, and I still find it good after 5+ watches, which the others haven't had at all.

To me ANOES is probably the weakest. Just never really liked those films at all for some reason. I'll have to stick on CT with this one and go with Halloween. John Carpenter is a genius. Love the suspense and the score and just pretty much everything about this movie. Lots of nostalgia with this one, but even without that I still like this movie the most. In order from my favorite to least, it would have to go somethin' a little like this.
1. Halloween 2. Friday the 13th 3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4. A Nightmare on Elm Street

I guess I have to give the nod to Friday.After all,I own 6 different copies of it(2 on VHS,3 on DVD,and 1 on Blu-ray).
That said though I think TCM and Halloween are technically better crafted films, but for pure enjoyment and re-watchability I always go back to Friday. As I've mentioned before,I saw all 4 on the big screen a couple of years ago,and Friday is the only one I've watched again since.

Yea, Friday the 13th is great for pure entertainment value. It just has that unexplainable charm. It's usually the first slasher most kids see. I remember staying up late every friday the 13th when I was a young'n to see the marathon of the series Syfy or Spike would show. Great memories there.

Not true. Mine was TCM and I thought it sucked ass when I first saw it. It wasn't until a few years into my horror watching career that I caught up with Friday, after I had already seen the other three first.

Yeah, I'm one of the weirdest horror fans around, in terms of when I saw everything at least, since I never got into it as a youngster. I got into them because I didn't know if I could handle the gore, and now it's become one of the main things I enjoy about these films, but when I was younger, that stuff scared me away from checking them out.

Yea, I miss those kinds of feelings when watching horror movies at a young age. Great times.

Yes, but you see how that shapes me. I didn't come into them thinking they were a lot of fun, I didn't know if I could handle what was featured about them as a whole and found out I could, and only after getting used to them did I find them enjoyable, so I'm kinda weird in that sense in that the box artwork had it's intended effort on me while growing up instead of drawing me into their world like it did for most of you.
