When a meteorite crash spews forth a ravenous alien blob that devours everything it touches, a group of teens race to warn the disbelieving adults in town about the creature before it's rampage consumes the entire area. **NOTE: Let's keep this relegated to the original, that's why it's here. ** What did everyone think of this one?

I absolutely love this movie, man. McQueen is just awesome in everything he does, and the climax in the diner is just about as good a film as you're l;ikely to see. Gotta love it...
Oh yeah, I give it a 5

"beware of the Blob it creeps and leaps, and glides and slides across the floor, right through the door, and all around the wall ,a splotch, a blotch be careful of The Blob"
This is one of my all time favourite creature features, and I was lucky enough a few years back to catch it on the big screen.
The sequel - Son of Blob is fun too.
oh and it get's a four from me as well

I thought the sequel was Beware the Blob, but if you say it's Son, fine with me.
4 for me, mostly because the film seemed to stop in it's tracks several times in order to play up the "cool teenagers" thread that really isn't all that fun, most notably the part where they're drag racing just minutes after being given instructions to help out the doctor. As soon as that whole five minutes have been eaten up, then just with a "Oh, by the way..." he steers the film back to what it should've been doing, dealing with the alien. There's more stuff than just that, but that was the main thing that got to me and lowered it for me somewhat.

Son of Blob here in the UK too. Haven't seen it since I was a kind and had forgotten all about it til I saw this thread. May have to seek it out.
I always enjoyed the remake too but haven't seen it since it came out.
As for this, the original, I adored it as a kid. First saw it on a black and white portable telly with poor reception and it scared me half out of my wits. When I finally saw it again, in glorious colour I still enjoyed it but it could never live up to my expectations. My imagination as a child filled in the details I couldn't see so inevitably I was a bit disappointed. Also I must agree with GL that the teenage hi jinx do slow the movie down considerably.
An honourable 3 from me.

Ah, so it seems that it's the title it got on foreign distribution while we get the other title. Here I thought there was a third entry in the series with Beware being that third one and son coming out between the two since Beware was in the early 70s and this was the 50s, looks like I'll have to update my notes then.
