NO comments on Chipper's retirement? As a Mets fan, I certainly have no love lost for Larry, but I'm a little surprised that you have nothing to say about it, GL

Season's not over yet. I will when that happens.

So, now that the regular season is over, a few words: Congratulations to Miguel Cabrera for his amazing performance at the plate in earning the American League Triple Crown. Congratulations for the Oakland A's, Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees for their clinching the three AL Division Crowns, and a belated but no less hearty congratulations for the Washington Nationals for clinching the NL East division crown. As well, a congratulations to the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles for winning the two AL wild-card spots, and to the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves for winning the two NL wild-card spots. And finally, a bit of applause for Chipper Jones and Omar Vizquel on their impending retirements and a big thank-you for providing tons of excitement in their grand careers. See you both in Cooperstown. As for the playoffs, I guess since my two teams aren't in it at all, time to throw my support behind the Orioles (mainly because watching so many of their games the last few weeks have turned me on to their announcing tandem immensely) and the Braves (Chipper, obviously) as my hopeful World Series this year. But being realistic, I think it'll be the Giants and Yankees. I'll still mention the other one though because I want credit for it if it indeed happens.

Can't believe this didn't get passed yesterday, so a repeat nod today:
Congratulations to Bob Melvin of the Oakland A's and Davey Johnson of the Washington Nationals for winning the AL and NL Managers of the Year.
On to new business:
Congratulations to David Price of the Tampa Bay Rays and R.A. Dickey of the New York Mets for winning the AL and NL Cy Young Award.

Yes, congratulaitons. And, on a darker note, shame and a hearty fuck you on the Miami Marlins for basically being a bunch of thieves that ripped off the city of Miami rather than a baseball team. This whole debacle, and the shame and lack of credibility that it delivers to the whole league is why baseball will always be a distant third in credibility to the NFL and NBA as long as Selig is the commissioner.

Indeed, couldn't have said it better. I really have no interest in what Miami does right now anymore, there's no incentive to watch this team at all and to treat their fan base like that, trading away every single noteworthy player (beyond Stanton, who should be looking over his shoulder if he hears a team has a deficiency in Right Field) to me their no better than the Houston Astros, though I put them above the Marlins now as that group has played together for a year or so and, relatively speaking, know each other. What this has done to a fanbase and a city is wholly unacceptable and I have never wished harder for a team to go into the record books for a bigger losing season than the 2013 Miami Marlins.
But onto lighter news:
Congratulations to Miguel Cabrera and Buster Posey for winning the AL and NL MVP awards.

Yeah, incredible seasons for both of them.
The Marlins are so much worse than the Astros it isn't funny. The worst part of the whole thing is that they conned the city of Miami into spending what will ultimately be more than 2 billion dollars on a stadium that houses a team that can't even be bothered to try to win. And, it would appear that the SEC is no investigating whether the Marlins actually bribed the City counsel and sent forged documents to them. This is a criminal issue now, not just a sports debacle.

So, first off, a little something for HNT as the Mets sign David Wright for life now with his new extension, the first such player in franchise history. Might be lame but congratulations on such an accomplishment.
Secondly, what a day to be a Dodgers fan. First Greinke now the Korean leftie, which means we're the first team to hit $200 million in patroll. We're in the record books! ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, it's definitely a nice signing. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether the Mets are willing to increase payroll and surround him with enough talent to win games. If they do, I'll be thrilled again. If they don't, I feel sorry for Wright that his hall of game career will be so limited by the team he's on
