How dare you not post this on the Halloween board, I'm gonna ban your ass! (kidding ) In all seriousness I enjoyed the first one pretty well despite all it's flaws and changes to the classic. The second one was pretty blah and hard to follow but I think I actually only watched it once. I may have to give it a rewatch this fall and re-evaluate my assessment.

If you want feel free to move it lol I realized my mistake after the fact. But I agree, I thought the first was REALLY good, especially the director's cut that had an alternate ending that frankly creeps me out a little. 2 I like for trying to be different with the mythos.

Yeah the first one made some pretty questionable and "out there" changes, but my stance has always been to consider it a whole new series based on the original series rather than an extension of the original series. So I think that helped me take it with a grain of salt even though I'm a diehard fan of the original series.
Again, I really need to rewatch the second one. I can't for the life of me even remember what was going on in it.
Any news on a possible third one (although I know Zombie is no longer attached)?

A script's in the works, Myers is back and it's in 3D ( maybe done in a Friday the 13th part 3 style). Zombie had a lot of interefernce and fights with the studio during 2's production which lead to the initial cut being so bizarred and mishmashed. Zombie won't be returning for the third.

I'm in the minority, because I actually preferred the sequel. Especially the ending which made me wonder if part 2 was actually all in Laurie's head

I enjoyed the sequel, just not the initial cut that was haphazardly thrown together.

I think both are utter shit with only graphic kills and nudity to make them worth watching. Otherwise, I don't have anything else to say about them.

I actually prefer part 2, because I think it showed more potential, with a pretty awesome opening and some weird and interesting moments throughout. It's still a mess and I HATE what was done to Loomis...but I was pretty entertained despite some huge flaws with character and dialogue.
The first one also had some good moments throughout, but I find it more tedious than anything. Zombie's biggest mistake was beating the mystery out of Michael Myers. So much of it is just so damn boring.
I still think Zombie has a lot of potential, he has a good eye and could be a damn fine horror director.....I love The Devil's Rejects. But he really needs someone to rein him in a bit, and he needs to stay away from remakes, in my opinion. Because I can't help but feel he just missed the point.

I think that overall both of them sucked pretty royally. I didn't really think that there was a single second of the original that was worth watching (though I haven't seen it since I initially watched in the theater since I hated it so much, so maybe it warrants another look). The second I also really hated, but it did have a really sweet opening sequence in the hospital. If Zombie hadn't tried to pull the ole switcheroo there, and instead just went for it and kept the movie going a hundred miles an hour like that, it would have been brilliant. The opening ten minutes are honestly some of the coolest moments I've seen in any recent horror film. The problem is the remainder is pretty much unwatchable for me.

The alternate ending is really good, and it destroys any possibility of a sequel. Rob Zombie even liked it, but test audiences hated it.

Ahhh the test audience. Where would our beloved genre be without it?

Personally I enjoyed both. I liked the first one better, I liked having a little more of young Michael for a change. I didn't think the sequel was as thoughout as the first. I don't know if that's because of the way its cut or something but it just felt, at least to me that there were too many different things thrown together into one movie. The one thing I do appreciate about the Rob Zombie one's is tha he made them very much about Michael and that wasn't something that has been done before and I always like it when they at least try to do something different whether it works or not.
