Haven't had a chance to see this yet, but I am a Joss Whedon fan, so of course I am looking forward to it. Unfortunately, in my excitement, I made the mistake of reading too much about it and kind of spoiled myself. I've heard mostly good things from people who share my taste in movies though.

I wasn't really interested by the looks of the previews but I went and saw it anyways and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it and found in entertaining. The guy that was stoned was freakin funny and my fav character. I thought the ending was cool.

This is probably not for everyone, but I absolutely loved it. Like Behind the Mask and Scream, plays around with horror archetypes in a clever, funny way. Good cast as well.

I'm extremely glad I knew next to nothing going in.Most of my enjoyment came from the sheer unpredictability of the story.
3.5

I give this one a top rating. I was completely surprised by how much fun I had with it. It looked kind of cheesty and mainstream, and once I saw that Joss Whedon was invovled I figured it would be some teen horror nonsense. I am really glad I gave it a chance, though. It has as amusing a twist as I can imagine. To spoil it would be a crime.

Glad you liked it so much HNT, it's one of my favorites of the last few years. Of course, I worship at the altar of Joss Whedon, teen nonsense or not.....

This was quite a fun and enjoyable entry that has a lot of really fun things about it. One of the better elements to this one is the fact that there's just enough comedy here to play this off as a parody yet still be taken completely seriously. Because this one is so heavily built around clichés and utilizes them to their fullest extent here really drives this one not only by partaking in the clichés but then offering a rather unique take on that need for the clichéd nature of these prototypical stories. This in turn drives up the rather ingenious storyline here where it builds on these types and then sets them into action against numerous enemies as this one kicks in with some rather dark and chilling takes on the prototypical killer-in-the-woods types. Not only is this section of the film pretty dark, creepy and packed with plenty of chilling encounters but it also runs through some rather ingenious moments to keep this one going along quite nicely throughout as there's enough action and gore here to really satisfy here. Unfortunately, what doesn't work here is everything after that point which is the last half-hour of the film as this delves into an over-developed and needless exploration of what's going on that's not in the slightest bit clever, original or worthwhile. Trying to hide behind tons of gory bloodshed doesn't help disguise the fruitless endeavor this tries to undertake all in the name of trying to be original or clever and never is all that enjoyable for it. This isn't enough to really knock this down, but it's enough to lower this slightly. I'll say 4.5 here, not enough for a 5 but enough to put it there easily.
