Has anyone tried this show? Each season is 3 episodes of 90 minutes each which is pretty strange (at least in the U.S.) but it works and I've only seen the 1st season but loved it. The second season just finished so I'll watch that sometime soon. It airs on PBS in the US.

Fantastic contemporary retelling that very cleverly uses modern technology and tropes to complement Doyle's original stories.
I think there have been a couple of weaker episodes (the second of each series) but on the whole excellent, compulsive viewing.

No, I haven't. Is it basically an American version of this show?

CBS wanted to buy the show from the BBC then remake it set in America. BBC said no so they went ahead and did a 'different but original' modern Sherlock Homes set in New York with Holmes played as a recovering addict (drawn back to crime solving as therapy) by Johnny Lee Miller.
And his therapist is Doctor Watson.
Played by Lucy Liu.
In an interview she has already teased the idea of a sexual frisson between the two.
I don't even know where to begin...

Wow sounds awful. I wonder if Sherlock himself is supposed to be American or English since it's Johnny Lee Miller.

I like Jonny Lee Miller.....but damn, that really does sound terrible.
Anyway, I will give this a try, I think it's on instant play at Netflix.

I think you will like it Jen. Advice from a fellow American, you may want to use English subtitles as Sherlock talks a mile a minute and is sometimes hard to follow due to the speed and accent.
