Id like to have a popular forum like this one. Any suggestions on what to base it on, something perhaps that you dont see too many forums on.
Ive tried:
Remakes (failed) Slashers (failed) Gnostic inspired films (failed) Friday the 13th (use to have one that did pretty good years ago, like in 2006) Friday the 13th documentaries (failing) RPG's (failed)

Wow, it is hard to believe that there is no current forum dedicated to the 80s tv show Tales from the Darkside, or Monsters

Game of Thrones In all seriousness, sadly I think that internet forums are pretty much a dying thing. Especially small independent forums like this that aren't attached to a popular high traffic website. The only reason this forum is active is because most of its posters go back 6-8 years as members. And even HMaM has been relatively inactive at many times in its existence. These days the internet is so inundated with content that it's near impossible to get anyone to notice you. 18 months ago I tried to start my own little .com website and spent literally 1000 or so hours on it (that's the main reason I was absent from here for around a year) only to have it get no traffic whatsoever. It was disappointing as hell and I eventually gave up. I wish I had a more uplifting story but I don't lol... The best way to get noticed on the internet these days is probably through Twitter, Facebook, and having a Youtube channel, but even then you're 1 amongst millions. I've given up on my dreams of having a successful website but am thankful to have this place to share with all of you. When it comes to your board Clath, I like it and you shouldn't give up so soon. I would suggest making posts on imdb in all the F13 movie and documentary boards with a link and short description of your board your signature. I can't really think of a better subject matter for a board aside from stuff that is super popular like Harry Potter and Twilight but I doubt you want to go that route. Hope this helped although I doubt it did P.S. If you really are looking to start a new board on a new subject matter, I would advise against a narrow subject matter like a single tv series or movie series because that severely limits the amount of potential members as well as the amount of discussion that can be had. You don't really have to avoid a subject matter that has been done before, you just have to do it better than the others.

So "80's horror"? That's a pretty broad swathe of movies and tv. Could work well. You know I'd join.

CT is right. Forums are dying. I like this one because I know you folks. The truth is, when I started here there was no such thing as facebook. Today, I would say that most of what I do here could be done more effectively on my facebook page for the most part, except for the fact that I enjoy the company of you fine folks.

I have no interest whatsoever in other forums, in fact I don't visit any. Like HNT I just have an attachment to some of the people (past and present) that have frequented HMaM and its predecessors since I first discovered Horror Inf3ction in 2005 and Jaysif's original HMaM in 2006. I would advise pouring your creative energies into blogging and maintaining your high quality input to HMaM.

I enjoy forums but this is the only one I stuck with....more of a time issue for me. I'm only online for a few minutes here and there during the day. So I would rather spend that little bit of time here I guess. I'll give an 80s horror forum a look though.
