What's the 'best' DVD in your collection? The one that you treasure above all others!

That is a really tough one.
Horror-wise it would probably be a toss-up between the Trilogy of the Dead set or the Phantasm set.
Beyond that, it is a hard choice between Apocalypse Now and Mad Max.

Hmm-I don't think anything in my collection has more in-depth coverage than my DotD 78 Ultimate Edition, so I would have to go with that.

Horror Wise, it is a toss up between the DOTD Ultimate Collection and the Grndhouse Cannibal Holocaust Limited Edition. As far as straight enjoyment, however, I'm gonna have to go with my Oliver Stone collection (assuming I am allowed to choose the entire box set, that is)

Of course (I presume).
And great choice with Stone.

I didn't realize that Fear and Loathing got a Criterion release. Are the extras worth my upgrading my older version?

There's a commentary with Hunter, and an old BBC documentary from the late 70s about Hunter as well. If those weren't on the release you have, then yes it's worth it, although maybe you can just order the features disc on Netflix or something.

I'll look into that. If the Hunter doco is good it might even be more interesting to me than the movie itself. HAve you read Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, CT? It is really good

I'm a big fan of Hunter and loved the doco, so I bet you would too. No I have not read that but I should. I did read Hell's Angel's though.

What they really ought to do is release an anthology colleciton of all of the articles that he wrote for Rolling Stone over the years. that would be really great

I was looking all over at Hastings today for the Criterion version of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I had seen it there before and when I went to look for it today I couldn't find it! I swear I was walking around the store for like an hour. lol
