I'm going to wait until a legitimate company releases a Region 1 copy of this movie on DVD.
Or Subversive Cinema. Whoever manages it first.

Lazario can't see that its wishes have been granted. That said, best thing about this movie is the Ministry soundtrack

Lazario can't see that its wishes have been granted. That said, best thing about this movie is the Ministry soundtrack There's a great blu-ray version of this around now. I'm a fan from back when it first came out. It hasn't dated well but is still a lot of fun and it looks great in its proper aspect ratio AND it's an excellent transfer. Some nice extras too, including one of Stanley's documentaries (about the 1930s exploits of the fascinatingly nutty German SS archaeologist/mediaevalist Otto Rahn) previously only available on the Dust Devil Final Cut 5 disc edition that makes it wellworth the purchase. EDIT: Just checked and it's actually the Voices of the Moon doco, not the Rahn one. Hey ho. Still worth it though, and the US blu-ray also has a fifty-something minute retrospective too. Might have to get that now.The funny thing about Lazario desiring a copy is that had it been a man terrorising the protagonist he would have declared it obscene and any fan of it a degenerate pervert. Fortunately robot voyeur/rapists appeared not to bother him so much.

Richard Stanley is my new idol, fascinating person. His docs are amazing also, the one you refered to is my fav, about the search for the holy grail "Secret Glory" its called. That other one is good too. This is a true cult classic.

It's a shame we can never see what he would have made of The Island of Doctor Moreau.
