Wow - this thread has some cobwebs on it. Been to plenty over the years - everything from AC-DC to Public Image and Springsteen.
Tonight had to be a handbag for Mrs T at the Australian Chamber Orchestra - where they mixed it up with Irish rels and folk singing... actually a great night out.

Went as a surprise with my cousin for his birthday yesterday to go see:
Sugar Ray-Totally sucked. Drum sound was terrible, live DJ's scratching was just abrasive and torturous, and with only about 30% of the audience there, tried getting them to sing along and hardly anyone gave a damn. Worthless.
Stray Cats-A little better, and a lot more lively. Mostly up-tempo stuff which got the audience going for the most part. Crowd actually popped for their songs, quite surprising, and sounded pretty good.
Tone Loc-Surprise guest not even on the bill, did a small rap set of two songs and a lot of crowd banter. No one really cared and was there to see the rock groups. The fact that he constantly referred to the 80s did him no favors.
The Pretenders-Got the crowd back into things after that, whenever they did a hit of theirs the crowd would again pop for them and would get up and dance for them. Pretty good, even if the main mic would go in and out towards the end when she was doing the song intros.
ZZ Top-Crowd was really split for this one. Whenever there was an up-tempo rocker, everyone was up and dancing along for them the whole way through, yet since they spent most of the time with their blues-rock stuff, crowd was sitting and silent but would pop during the solos. Not at that bad.
Stevie Nicks-The main reason why my cousin wanted to go to the show (this was the 23rd time he'd see her live as a solo artist, I forget the total number going to see her with Fleetwood) it was another pretty good set. Constant wardrobe changes let the backing band have a lot of jam time and almost got over with the crowd more than her actual songs. Raspy voice notwithstanding, pretty good actually.

I know... Like a kid waiting for Christmas. We should catch up for beers when I'm in Sydney if you like?
And caught Doc Neeson's Angels on Sat night at an acoustic concert. Fan-bloody-tastic. He got the crowd to whisper the refrain to Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again!

I've just experienced one of the most awesome events of my life to date - Iron Maiden live......... What a gig!!!!!!! . From the moment Churchill spoke, to the extended encore that culminated in Hallowed be thy Name, i was in awe with Goose bumbs and i gotta say that my neck has never been so sore in my life....... The crowd was amazing a packed house( the show sold out in a matter of hours) and even Bruce himself was shocked at the reaction even saying himself it had been far too long since they had played in oz. One of the biggest highlights of the night though was meeting Mr. and Mrs. Toad at a get together with some guys that we know from another forum , and now we look forward to april, when i'll be heading up to Brisbane for W.A.S.P. I'll post some pics as soon as i get em.

It's been a whopping 22 years since I saw Maiden, they were always a great live act. I saw a fairly low profile band last weekend called Amplifier, love their two studio albums but live they were ruined by either a rotten sound guy or a shitty venue. I couldn't quite decide but was very disappointed as I've been looking forward to seeing them for a couple of years. Fortunately my lovely mrs got us Ween tickets for May. I saw them in 2001 and have been counting the days til I could see them again.

Some good news, bad news on this front:
I'm escorting my sister to another concert, it's on Saturday the 31st.
It's IRON MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going with my sister to see Iron Maiden and Anthrax on the 31st. And, it was her choice to go see them. I feel so good warping my little sister into becoming a fan, and forcing me to rediscover them as well. I feel proud.
