It was the Somewhere Back in Time tour, as I went last night. It was absolutely incredible all around, and right now it's my favorite concert I've been too.
Opening act was Lauren Harris, nothing special. Metal-tinged hard rock that was decent enough if she stayed in a melodic tone but completely destroyed the song when she tried to go higher, sounding whiney and stretching to reach notes.
Next up was Anthrax with the new singer, and I'll just say this: they'll be fine with him. A more traditional singer, hitting higher notes than than Belladona ever could with ease and sounding like a clone of Bush when required. The band was tight, Bonante is still the single most underrated double-bass behemoth out there and they absolutely crushed. The live versions of Madhouse and I Am the Law are monsters right now, getting pits going with absolutely no trouble.
Maiden, though, what could be said about them? Just insane, with Dickinson running around like a maniac hitting everything just as good or better than the studio albums. Busting out classics as Wasted Years (one of my absolute favorites, the groove to that thing just crushes) Moon Child, The Trooper and Phantom of the Opera is an absolute blast, and Eddie made an appearance during the song that bears the group's name to close out before going into the encore. Coming back with Flight of Icarus, The Clairvoyant and Hallowed Be Thy Name was just awesome, they owned Rime of the Ancient Mariner and special stage theatrics for Aces High and The Trooper made them even better. The crowd was singing along louder than the band at times, and it was just an incredible experience. I'm so glad that my sister was able to see them with me.

I attended my first concert the other week. It was Alice Cooper and the show can be summed up in one word: "Incredable".

The Theatre of death was a great show!Four executions, and all the classics played. That said I was a little disapointed that he didn't play more off Along came a Spider.

Just saw Slayer/Manson. They are either touring again this year, or they have been touring for about 2 solid years. Not sure which.
Slayer is always an incredible live show. Manson is just as silly as ever. Never been a huge fan of his, but occasionally a creative idea seems to accidentally slip through the rest of his silliness

Most recent concert for me was seeing Morrissey play here in Warsaw. It was a small club show. Amazing.

Yeah, he put out a helluva record this year too. Years of Refusal is one of his best. I don't think I've heard anything that good from him since the Vauxhall era

You're not kidding HNT!
I was thinking that after "You Are the Quarry" we would see a revived Morrissey career of diminishing returns, and I thought myself proven correct with his release of Ringleader of the Tormentor . . . but then, to drop Years of Refusal . . . the man still has the golden touch, that was album of the year for me, and it's not even over yet.
Some of the material even tops Vauxhall, but nothing will top the track "Now My Heart is Full," what I consider Morrissey's finest hour as a solo artist.

Happened to catch wrestler Chris Jericho's band Fozzy the other night in Brisbane. A good fun show that pleased me enough to buy their latest album the next day.
