Have any of you guys heard that if you start Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon sometime at the begininig of Wizard of Oz that it matches perfect as a soundtrack? I tried this in high school, and it works. I was looking for Pink Floyd video last nite on limewire and found a video that someone made of just this thing. Its very very cool and strange, if you ain't seen this then you sould try and find it.

It doesn't REALLY work. It just seems like it worked, because nobodyever tries it unless they are under the influence of certain substances that will alter your perceptions enough to make it seem like it worked. Beyond that, though I do like Floyd (Dark Side is a very mediocre Floyd offering, though) I really don't see the point in watching OZ with something else playing. I mean, it isn't like listening to Darkside is better than listening to Judy Garland sing. Over the Rainbow can still melt the heart of anyone who hears it with her very first note.

The first time I tried it was with my little brother and we were not under the influence of any substance. It worked very nicely. And actually listening to Darkside is much better than listening to Judy Garland sing.

Well the first time I tried it with a cd and video tape it did not work that good, but this video I downloaded it working really good. I was under the influence both times.

Well it depends on your definition of something "working" I guess HNT, yes it's just a coincidence but it works. Of course being under the influence will improve it and make it seem to work even better, but as LDC pointed out it isn't absolutely necessary. I like Darkside of the Moon a lot, it's so trippy.

The best Floyd CD is Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Syd Barrett was the best thing about that band. They wre never anywhere near as good when Roger waters became the promary songwriter. Of the second incarnation of Floyd, though, I would say that Wish You Were Here is the best. Go grab Barrett's solo record The Madcap Laughs if you never heard, though. It is completely different from a Floyd record, but really friggin great

Its a shame what happened to Syd and Mad Cap Laughs is such a sad album. Especially the song Dark Globe.

Yeah, Dark Globe is one of the most disturbing songs I've ever heard.

Awesome that you gujys have heard of Syd. I'm used to being the only one who knows who he is. A blessing for both of you

It isn't disturbing to me. Just sad, because my brother has schizophrenia and it reminds me of him when he was doing really bad and not on his meds and stuff. I would have to walk around downtown seattle looking for him on the streets and stuff.

Syd Barret just died.
Syd Barrett had one noted reunion with Pink Floyd, in 1975 during the recording sessions for Wish You Were Here. Barrett attended the Abbey Road session unannounced and watched the band record Shine On You Crazy Diamond — coincidentally, a song about him. At that time, Syd had gained a lot of weight and had shaved off all of his hair, including his eyebrows, and his ex-bandmates did not at first recognise him (one of the photographs in Nick Mason's book Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd appears to have been taken that day; it is captioned simply: Syd Barrett, 5th June 1975). Eventually, they realised who he was and Roger Waters was so distressed that he was reduced to tears.
Pink Floyd was definately two different bands before and after Barret left, but I like them both personally.

Yeah, I heard this earlier. Very sad to say the least. Syd had an incredibly difficult and tragic life, and yet he managed to make some of the most spectacularly beautiful and cheerfully upbeat music in history. Barrett's Floyd was infinitely better tahn what succeeded it, and both of his solo records are all time classics as well. God bless, adn one can only hope that he may finally know peace
