Not a fan of bluegrass I guess. More and more it seems like people can't enjoy music that isn't a product of the MTv generation.

I don't know... You might call it that. But I've always hated a lot of classic rock. Don McLean's "American Pie" makes me want to shoot myself in the head. Just the sound of that song makes me squirm. Not a big Elvis fan, either.
I like a few songs that The Rolling Stones did (my favorite is "Shatter"). I love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I like some of Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks' songs. The Firesign Theater cracks me up (though they're not strictly music, obviously)- and their stuff goes back into the 60's (if I'm not mistaken). I love a lot of what ELO, The Moody Blues, Boston, and Olivia Newton John did. I'm big on some songs from that period, too. Nick Glider's "Hot Child in the City," Kate Bush's "Wow," Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" is beautiful.
Mostly, I like some of the 60's pop songs. I love "Inscents & Peppermints," "Shotgun," "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," "To Sir with Love," some of what I've heard from Wanda Jackson and Connie Francis, and lots of Disney movie songs- and they had singers from the 40's and 50's singing songs for them. Like Helen Reddy's "Candle on the Water," and Dinah Shore (30's and 40's) sings some amazing songs for them. I love "Too Good to Be True" and "Two Silhouettes." I also like a lot of Motown songs, RnB, and "Hairspray"-era stuff (especially "Shake a Tail Feather"). "What You See is What You Get" by The Dramatics. I like Minnie Riperton, Deniece Williams, Wendy Rene, Tina Turner. Donna Summer is great.
Then, I like a bit of the punk and various other things from the 70's. I love "Sixteen" by The Buzzcocks, "Psycho Killer" by The Talking Heads, "New York" by The Sex Pistols, and quite a bit of what they call the "AM Gold" - I think. "Five O'Clock World," "The Morning After (from The Poseidon Adventure)," "Reach Out in the Darkness," "Everybody Loves a Clown"... And I love the sort of "novelty" genre of songs. The best being: "They're Coming to Take Me Away - Ha! Ha!" And I always listen to Johnny Mathis' Christmas songs.
There's more, but my head can't find it all.

The Dead are a band that never realized what t was that made them alright. They never played their more country oriented Workingman's Dead and American Beauty sound live. Instead, they tried to pull off this 50 minute jam space rock sound, but they were simply not musically talented enough to keep my interest. To sum it us shot and sweet, if more people discovered real blues and jazz and really understood the beauty of musical improvisation, there would be no market for this subpar silliness
