With both the original and 80's series finally getting box set releases down here in oz, i have been spending a lot of time on the outskirts of the Twilight Zone of late.
so now i must ask, any other fans around?

Sorry, I was always an Outer Limits and Alfred Hitchcock Presents... man myself, never got into Twilight Zone.

I absolutely love the original. The 80' series was very uneven, sometimes being good and sometimes terrible. Generally, the episodes that were remakes of original series episodes were best

Hmm, I may give the 80s ones a shot, but I still wasn't a big fan of the first ones.

yeah i find the 80's series a bit hit and miss, some great ,some not so great. I also didnt mind the outer limits but i'm ashamed to say i have never seen a single episode of Night Gallery. Whats so amazing about the Twilight Zone for me is the influence that the show had- for one thing i'd say at least half the the stories from The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes were riffs on TZ eps, Hungry are the Damned,Clown without pity, Nightmare at 4and a half feet, barts dream where he had the powers, a more recent one where Bart and Milhouse freeze time. Then theres the episode A Thing about Machines that surely must have inspired a young Stephen King to write Trucks, or The Hitchhiker which although based on the short story of the same name, beat Carnival of Souls to the punch by a year or two, and whos echoes are still being heard this decade in such films as Dead End and Reeker

Yesh, when you get a chance you should take a look at Night Gallery, although IMO the Twilight Zone is a far classier and more effective show. Rod Serling did do Night allery as well, but for whatever reason the writing was just not as good there.
Gotta throw out a proper nod to Kolchak: the Night Stalker as well. It was a very silly, but fun show. Can't go wrong with Darren McGavin after all

The original twilight zone was so revolutionary for the time and has rerun nonstop since, allowing people like me to grow up on it later on. I recently was recording them on my DVR but it took up too much space since scifi airs like 20 eps a damn week, but I think I've seen them nearly all.

I picked up the entire 5 seasons of the original series when it was on sale. Might look at the Night Gallery shortly.

The entire original series is available on Netflix for download. What a treat they are. Especially commercial free so each one only runs between fifteen and twenty minutes. Nice little bite sized nuggets of fun. Thing is, if I start watching them I'll watch at least five or six episodes in a row before I stop.

Do they have Rod Serling's Chesterfield promos on the netflix eps? They always make me chuckle considering the change in attitude towards cigarettes these days.
