From Bloody-Disgusting.comParamount Renews Option for 'World War Z' Friday, April 23, 2010
By: MrDisgusting It was officially announced that Paramount Pictures has renewing the option to make World War Z, a big screen adaptation of Max Brooks' best-selling post-apocalyptic tome about a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies. Filmmaker Marc Forster is developing the project, while Brad Pitt's Plan B shingle is producing. In his tome, Brooks -- son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft -- tells the tale of a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission who interviews survivors from all over the world in order to put together a post-mortem on a war that destroyed every country around the globe.

From Bloody-Disgusting.comMcLovin/Red Mist Becomes Evil Ed in 'Fright Night' Redo!! Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, best known as "McLovin" from Superbad and "Red Mist" from Kick-Ass, is becoming another fan-fav. The geeky co-star who's been lighting it up in Hollywood has landed the role of the infamous "Evil Ed" in DreamWorks' 3-D redo of Fright Night. Mintz-Plasse plays the best friend of Anton Yelchin as Charlie, a teen convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a vampire. Evil Ed feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire's coven. David Tennant, best known for starring in the BBC series "Doctor Who," has also landed a role of Peter Vincent, a character who in the original 1985 movie was played by Roddy McDowall as the host of a late-night horror show. In the remake, he's a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he's less than helpful. Toni Collette was previously cast as Charlie's disbelieving mom, who falls under the vampire's spell. The fact that Toni Collette and Colin Farrell had been cast was a surprise to me...lol.

Another poointless remake. Kids today won't even like this kjind of sower paced brooding vampire film (especially because it isn't full of sexy teen heartthrob vampires ala Twilight). I can't imagine this being a money maker, and I can only hope that this and Halloween 2 failing will spell the beginning of the end for this pointless remake trend

Might have surprised me too , if I knew who they were
Yeah this sounds like a really lame movie, no way its going to be as good as the original, not that the original was some that great, it did have a certain something

I can't imagine this being a money maker, and I can only hope that this and Halloween 2 failing will spell the beginning of the end for this pointless remake trend While I agree its pointless, and I still think its lazy filmmaking, I honestly don't even care anymore. I'll probably see it once it hits DVD. Might be fun, might not be. I think some of the casting is pretty cool (I really like Toni Collette and David Tennant is a good call). But I've been pretty pleased with some of the horror I have seen lately, especially some of the foreign and low budget films, so I have no complaints. But I doubt it will stop anytime soon, sequels and remakes are just easier.

From ShockTillYouDrop.com Guillermo Del Toro's Van Helsing? Source:Pajiba June 10, 2010
With the bittersweet decision to leave the The Hobbit behind him, Guillermo Del Toro is now surveying the landscape of potential projects.
And, man, there are a ton to choose from, from Frankenstein to The Witches to At the Mountains of Madness (a film I have a feeling I'll finally see come to fruition when I'm 50 years old).
Pajiba has thrown another film in the mix: Van Helsing. Yes, according to that site, Del Toro apparently has a treatment for an action-horror film surrounding the vampire killer. But it has no connection to Stephen Sommers' Frankenstein fart of a film starring Hugh Jackman.
I figured Universal was still licking the wounds left on their classic monster brand after the box office performance of The Wolfman, but hey, good monsters keep on comin' back, right? If Del Toro is indeed flirting with a Van Helsing project, I'm all ears.
If you recall, there was talks of a Van Helsing solo film after the release of Bram Stoker's Dracula in the '90s.No Hobbit!?!?! Anyway, I was REALLY hoping At the Mountains of Madness would be made soon as well, and I think he is the perfect director for it.

As some you may have noticed by now, I adore Let the Right One In. Possibly my favorite vampire film ever. So a part of me is cringing a bit at the complete ridiculousness of remaking such a wonderful film so soon. But hey, maybe a few people will watch this and then actually give the first film, and the book, a try. Maybe it will even be pretty good.....the trailer is far from terrible.

Hey Jen i saw an article on Bloddy disguisting about the new Scream saying that since most of the cast was new they would take the series into a new direction and make a new trilogy out of it. Is that true?

Hey Jen i saw an article on Bloddy disguisting about the new Scream saying that since most of the cast was new they would take the series into a new direction and make a new trilogy out of it. Is that true? I think that was the plan, that's what Kevin Williamson AND Craven wanted, from what I understand (though Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette are all back now, I think). However, this just popped up.... From: ShockTilYouDrop.com Update: Kruger Returns to Scream Script Source:Zap2It July 2, 2010
Update:
Take all of this as gossip for now, but Zap2It is reporting that there is a new screenwriter tinkering around with Scream 4 - currently shooting in Michigan with Wes Craven at the helm.
According to them, the production has called back Ehren Kruger, the man who penned Scream 3, to work on the script. Furthermore, sources talking to Zap2It says that Hayden Panettiere's role has been "dumbed down significantly" and series creator Kevin Williamson is out of the picture, calling into question the fate of Scream 5.
Here's what I don't buy about this. When I spoke to Craven at the start of the Scream 4 rumors, he was very vocal about what didn't work on Scream 3. And much of that had to do with the script and the indecision and the consistent script tinkering. It didn't sound like a pleasant experience.
I can't see Craven returning to or allowing that experience to happen again. Yes, I've heard rumblings that Williamson's script was handed out to crew members at the last minute - minus the end - and that an air of secrecy has surrounded the whole story...but to revisit the debacle that was Scream 3? I can't see anyone wanting to commit to that again.

From ShockTillYouDrop.com Hellraiser: Revelations Synopsis, Character Details Source:Moviehole August 25, 2010
We told you Hellraiser: Revelations was moving fast. When Shock broke the news a ninth entry was in the works, the script was being polished and casting was in the works. Now, we hear shooting is expected to begin September 3. Moviehole has hit the scene with the following character breakdown and synopsis of what's to come in this sequel. Victor Garcia directs, Peta Wilson stars...
DR. ROSS CRAVEN Early 40s, handsome, a family man. His son disappeared two years ago and it has been a hard road back to family stability. He is a good man that has fought hard to keep his family together.
EMMA 18, daughter of Ross and Sarah. She is lovely and inquisitive and on the verge of her own womanhood.
STEVEN 20, son of Ross and Sarah. He is a seeker, a true misanthrope. After he graduated high school, he went on a backpacking trip with his friend Nico through Mexico, where he was presented with a choice to "experience a reality beyond current existence" and the puzzle box is presented and Pinhead becomes his master.
NICO 20, Steven's best friend and travelling partner. Once Nico realizes that the commitment to Pinhead is FOREVER, he attempts a daring switch plan to release himself from the puzzlebox.
ENGINEER Male with dark olive skin, cloudy eyes. He is creepy looking, a man that has lived on the streets for years. The Engineer is a man of mysterious origins, and it is this man that draws the curious souls into Pinhead's reality.
MALE CENOBITE Male 20-30s, British accent, Caucasian, very pale, tall and thin, the actor should be comfortable in full body makeup along with special effects contact lenses, face and head special effect makeup. Stunt background / experience a plus.
PSEUDO-PIN HEAD Tall and very thin, deathly pale, in his early 20s. Should be comfortable in full body makeup (head covering, etc.), and tight fitted black leather clothing. This pseudo pinhead is such a devoted servant of Pinhead, he mimics his appearance as closely as possible, and revels in the pain that leads to his pleasure. Stunt background / experience a plus.
FEMALE CENOBITE Tall and thin, this actor should have training in contemporary dance / ballet / mime / as well as be able to work within an environment of sensory deprivation (vision will be impaired within this character's mask). The actor cannot be claustrophobic in any way, as this character wears full body makeup, wears a mask that covers her entire head and face throughout the film. This character can only communicate though body language and movement. She is a haunting presence in the film and conveys all emotion through her body movement. This female cenobite is also a devoted slave to Pinhead.
STORY LINE: PINHEAD is back and in his chamber of soulless delights, he thought he had two willing participants in STEVEN and NICO. But Nico wants out and decides that a member of Steven's family will serve as proper barter. Terror ensues.
