Is there a way for guests to be able to see the boards and posts without posting themselves? I know we don't want guests posting so we can avoid spamming. But guests not being able to see anything could be hazardous because I for one know I'd want to see if there were recent posts on a board before I took the trouble to register and join. Might make it hard to get new members...

If they can see the figure at the bottom of the page where it says Last Post Made and the date, that should be enough. Let's them know we're still here while giving them a taste of what to expect and can join up without giving them any ideas.

That's true GL I didn't think about that. But still I doubt I'd take the time and chance to join a board based on one post. It doesn't prove it's an active board. If it can't be done without allowing guest to post maybe we should keep itthis way bit if it can be done I think it'd be better.

It would be nice if they could see the board, and some of the posts without posting. I know that letting guests post is a bad idea, it just leads to a lot of spam and people trying to cause trouble. But I have to agree with CT, I probably wouldn't join a board either without be able to get a feel for the place first, to know how active it was and to know the people are....welcoming.

I have the power to make them see it. The problem is you have so many boards. It will take like 30mins to do all of them. I will do it on a day where I can dedicate that much to something that tedious lol

Hopefully this is a bit better.

I was about to say thanks for the new layout, it looks a lot better. Will take some getting used to, but it's got a thumbs up so far.

Yeah looks good phantom. I was going to ask you to remove the graphics section anyway since I'm only using an iPhone I can't exactly run Photoshop anymore.

The new layout looks great. Oh, and I agree taht we should let guests see the boards. I don' even have a problem with letting them post. Yes, Spam is an issue, but it is the job of staff to clean up that stuff when we are around. Otherwise what do you need us for? the problem before was that everyone with admin powers was unavailable and it got out of control. A bit of policing of the board and our individual sections should solve the problem I would think

Well, we still technically don't have moderators for every single section (most of them do, but not all) and then there's some sections moderated by those who aren't around full-time at all, so I think it's a big premature to simply say "let the guests have that kind of power" since they shouldn't have it to begin with. I'll concede to them being able to view the forum, as it's rightly been pointed out that they should be able to tell how active the forum is, but I still believe that a person who joins the forum and registers an account should have the privilege of being able to post, whereas a guest shouldn't.

Yeah I don't see any reason for guests to be able to post at the moment. And I should probably reorder or reassign some of the moderator positions...

Is it possible to edit the polls I've made,to add new entries to a series or filmography? There is a new Final Destination on the way, plus Carpenter's new film The Ward.

Sorry, man even I can't do that. Maybe CT or HNT can do it, but once a poll's made it's made. Not even editing the post works since all you do is edit that particular post.
