Eh, the mask looks decent and it has two actors in Mcdowell and Forree that I like, so I think I'm gonna give it a shot and see. I agree, though, that Michael Myers is better when he isn't quite so gigantic. I can't imagine how a guy that size would be able to disappear into bushes and evade capture for so long. Plus, my girlfriend is all excited about it so I really don't have much of a choice anymore

We're still going to see it. I don't have a choice either at this point...LOL....but that's exactly what I was talking about, as far as his size. Glad I'm not the only one.

Thirded on the size stuff... but I will see it assuming the fuck-knuckle Australian distributors give it a cinematic release.
Mrs T hasn't even seen the original!!!

Mrs T hasn't even seen the original!!! I suggest you get her on that before all the goodness you've exposed her to these past few months is washed away. The Halloween Mod has spoken!!

They'll probably chop it in half so we'll end up with one remake for the price of two! Halloween and Halloween 2 Judging on the past two Halloween releases we probably won't get it here until late October.

That sounds a lot better than August for us. It fits in the with the time of the movie's setting a lot better. Why he isn't releasing it as close as possible to the date itself is something I figured would've been a no-brainer for him to do.

It would GL, except that by releasing it now he can cash in on the end of the summer movie season. October is traditionally a dead time between the summer blockbuster season and the end of the year award seeking season. They probably figure the market for this film is too big to release it in October which would be tantamount to burying it. Not to mention, if it has the kind of success they are obviously aiming for, it will still be around come October. that is only a two month run, after all

No to mention the cashing in they can do on masks, t-shirts that people will buy for Halloween. Picture 1000 Micheal Myers running around this Haloween!

True, but wouldn't you rather capitalize on the season in the film? It takes place on Halloween night, maybe just even releasing it second week of October, or even late September. You'd still get the last summer movie rush while getting the feel of the movie's setting.

The summer movie rush is based on school being out and people seeing movie during their vacations. Once people are back to school and work full time the rush dies off considerably. Especially since ths movie should have a large teen audinece as its bread and butter

I would tend to agree with GL here....people go to see horror films at Halloween time, just like they go to visit haunted houses.....it would have been smart to bank on that. BUT I think they just didn't want to have to compete with the latest Saw movie. The Saw films have proven to be a success.....they wanted to bring in as much money as they could before being put up against another horror film that every one pretty much knows will make money.

releasing it in august gives em just enough time to rush the dvd out in time for ....... you guessed it Halloween!
on the flip side i guess your loss is our gain here down under- i went and saw H2O on Halloween in 98, and i think it added to my enjoyment so much more- even though summer was just beginning not ending.

BTW, first of five new interviews, released daily to support the release, of the movie: www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/9733

Comedies like American Pie or Beer Fest and most horror films obviously tend to appeal more to kids than adults. Studios bank on the fact that theaters don't enforce the restrictions. By the way, the restrictions are not legally binding (nor should they be). There is no legal penalty for allowing a minor to see any film that they wish (absent pornography, of course)
