Could it be true? The long promised-long overdue sequel to the 80's fave The Lost Boys is actually happening? To be honest it's probably about 15 years too late, but i can't help but get excited about the prospect of a Corey reunion after all these years with Tom Savini to boot! I hope this does well, cause then maybe producers can start taking Feldman seriously, and then maybe just maybe he could return to the role that made him famous( well, to me anyway) for an ultimate showdown with Jason!!!

Is Feldman going to be in it? Last I heard it was a completely new cast, and it would be a straight to dvd (no surprise there). It will probably premiere on the Sci Fi channel.....lol.

Ah, okay.....I missed this..... Bloody-Disgusting.com According to Fango Radio, Tom Savini will appear in The Lost Boys: The Tribe. "I'm one of the first vampires you see in the movie," Savini said of the sequel to the much-loved 1987 Joel Schumacher teen horror hit. "I'm a surfer who runs into the vampires at the beginning of the film, in a sequence that is shot very Sergio Leone-style. They're shooting THE TRIBE in Vancouver right now, and I'll be there September 11." Savini also believes that the film will be going theatrical due to the success of Coreys Feldman and Haim's reality show. Savini joins a cast that includes the two Coreys, Keifer Sutherland's brother, and some other folks. Let's just hope he inspires the makeup guys to not leave everything to CG like most modern vampire movies.
So apparently, you were absolutely right, both Coreys and Savini....well, its coming together a lot better than what I first heard.

I know that I'm in the vast minority, but I never liked the original all that much. I suppose I'll check this out for nostalgia's sake, particularly because they will almost have to ditch the teen heartthrob elements that annoyed me the most given how long it been since anyone involved in this was close to adolesence

Too much of a teeny bopper flick. Left me cold

And one more in the not-a-fan side. Nothing really deserving of putting this in the horror category, as remove the vampire from them and they're just daredevil punks and nothing else. Teeny-popper fare that was pushed to the forefront totally and effectively killed this one. If this one drops it, maybe it'll be worthwhile, but not seeing a lot of hope for it to be good at all.

I love the first one, its just fun, funny and stylish......not groundbreaking or scary in anyway, but it wasn't really trying to be. Of course, I practically grew up watching this movie. But Near Dark is the FAR better vampire film in my opinion. This one seemed to take too much attention from that one. And I would think that if you take the vampirism element out of almost any vampire movie, it wouldn't really be much of a horror movie.....

True, but there's still no feeling of supernatural evil there. It just feels like a teeny-popper film and doesn't really make an impact in the horror department.
And I'm not that fond of Near Dark either. Took too long to get interesting, and then the payoff was too low-key.

Well, I think it has to do with the basic premise of the movie, the title says it......they are like the Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, they refuse to grow up.....its all about fun, partying, staying forever young......but in this case, they are cold blooded killers. And of course, they banked on the pretty boys and how dreamy they all were...LOL... .....but it IS a horror film. Just a more lighthearted one. There is all kinds of horror out there, and they aren't just effective in one way. Particularly with vampire films, because of all the creatures of the night.....they are the most human, and you can pretty much make them into anything you choose.....there are many different "versions" of the vampire. I love Near Dark, one of my favorite vampire films. The bar massacre is classic. My only complaint is the admittedly weak ending

I'm actually not surprised by the lack of love for The Lost Boys..... I AM a bit surprised by the apparent lack of love for Near Dark though.
