I have always meant to read In Cold Blood myself, but never got around to it. Capote is definitely an excellent movie, and it sparked my interest yet again, but I have to wait for them to get a copy back into the library. The copy I had here for ages mysteriously disappeared.

Right now I'm reading "The Politics of Ecstasy" by Timothy Leary and "A Seperate Reality" by Carlos Castaneda.

Yeah, man. Timoty LEary can be fun, but be careful not to take him too seriously. The dude was way out of his fucking mind

Started Micah by Laurell K. Hamilton earlier this evening. Can't tell you why I still feel compelled to read this series, but I can't seem to stop myself. I haven't truly enjoyed one since Obsidian Butterfly, which I loved. But that was when the books still seemed to have a plot. Actually this one isn't so bad so far, but I ain't finished yet.

LOL) but I just wish something else interesting was going on there as well. Guess she has just run out of ideas, so she needs to fill in the gaps with sex.....and more sex....and then a little more.....and well, you see where I am going with this....haha. A lot of the characters seem to have lost their flavor, so to speak.....

Started Forty Words For Sorrow by Giles Blunt yesterday and I am half finished. Excellent book for its type. And I love the title.

Reading Whats the Matter With Kansas. A fascinating political analysis of how exactly the Republican party convinced blue collar middle America to vote against its own economic interests. Both tragi and fascinating a the same tme and not without a dose of cynical humor. Highly Recommended

Finished Forty Words For Sorrow, an excellent crime novel. Great characterizations. I went right into Black Fly Season immediately after I finished, also by Giles Blunt, and it is off to a good start as well.

Reading The Keeper by Sarah Langan. A fine debut novel, not great, but fast paced, and spooky in places. Looking forward to future novels by this writer.

Just started John Birmingham's World War 2.3... I love this series!` Birmingham (an Aussie authour) first wrote He Died with a Falafel in his Hand (about the travails of share houses). A couple of years back he decided to write what he desscribed as 'the biggest, dumbest book ever'... and out popped World War 2.1. The basic premise has a UN carrier battle group from 2020 (largely US, Aussie and UK) transported back throught time slap into the battle of Midway. The series is fantastic alternative history stuff that as well as the spectacular set peices is extraoridinarly clever in examing the clash of (time) cultures... Imagine for example how 1940s America would react to the concept of a female, black commanding officer of a warship (caled the Hillary Clinton from memory)? Great stuff.
