Just finished Dead Crazy by Nancy Pickard. Decent mystery, if predictable, I have enjoyed her series for the most part, and I am trying to catch up on the ones I missed. Started Darker Than Night by John Lutz today, and I am also reading several short story collections.

James Lee Burke's Pegasus Descending (best US novelist of recent times) Michael Chrichton's Next - not bad but pushes the boundaris too far in terms of credible science

Still reading The Cloud of Unknowing by Cook, also picked up Waking Up Screaming: Haunting Tales of Terror by H.P Lovecraft, there are a few in here I have never read.

Finished Heart Shaped Box last week, not a bad first novel. Some good characterization, and some good moments of suspense. Some of it is a bit predictable, not that hard to figure out what is going on to be honest. But I liked that it had a lot of the elements of an old fashioned ghost story, with a modern twist. Also finished Dead Man's Bones by Susan Wittig Albert yesterday.
Just started Generous Death by Nancy Pickard.

Isn't that just bloody awful? One of those rare novels I didn't bother finishing Well, I don't dislike it as much as I did Hannibal which I did finish......painful as it was.... But the further along I get, have to agree....what the hell happened to Harris? Was it the films? Because I just can't believe this is the same man that wrote Red Dragon.

Finished The Monk by M.G. Lewis. Classic gothic novel from the early 1800s I believe it was written. Great stuff and highly recommended.

Jen I agree totally - I got about a third of the way through and thought this isn't the same author... read another chapter and just tossed it aside in disgust. Just tell me if if should persevere. For mine, just started reading World War Z - An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks. www.randomhouse.com/crown/worldwarz/Don't laugh, it is actually fan-bloody-tastic! Written as a series of historical interviews post the event slightly later in the 21st century. Loving it. Highly recommended

I can't seem to trudge through it any longer. I hardly ever put a book down, but I keep comparing it to Red Dragon, and Silence of the Lambs. What a disappointment. I have heard good things about Brooks, still need to read The Zombie Survival Guide, my cousin recommended it to me awhile ago. Right now reading a collection of old ghost stories.
