I get almost everything from the library, so I usually don't get caught with a book I can't even be bothered to finish.... Don of the Dead by Casey Daniels. Picked it up because of the title...LOL....not bad, silly, lighthearted mystery. But the main character is kind of dumb, so not sure if I will stick with the series.

I can't remember the last time I was in a library. Being an inveterate collector I tend to buy about 3 books a week - which is all well and good until you realise you have to spend 4 grand putting floor to ceiling shelving in the third room (in addition to the shelves in the living room) just to accomodate the bastards that are piled up all over the house.

My mom used to work in a bookstore, so I have a huge collection back home, with her discount it was cheap to just buy them. But if I bought as many books as I read (about 5-8 books a week probably) we would be in the poorhouse, just can't afford it unfortunately. So I just buy the few I feel I HAVE to have.

I have this odd little quirk that forces me to buy any entertainment type item. I feel as if I am wasting money renting (not regarding books, obviously) anything.
I also like to have the copies of my books on hand to refer to any time I wish, because I mark my books to hell and back. I'm talking the whole nine yards, highlighter, pen marks, questions in pencil. My friends have stopped asking to borrow them as they cannot read the original text with all my notes, but hey, their loss.
Anyways, to answer the question, I am currently thumbing through Oscar Wilde's collected works. Wilde is easily my favorite author... ever.

Nothing odd about that No 7. I'm exakkery the same way - doesn't matter whether it's movies, books, music, whatever... just have to own it. Probably one reason why I've never got around to getting an MP3 thingummy - I actually like to have shelves full of CD's rather than a computer chip for a music collection.

Ah, that's my one weakness. I have tons and tons of MP3s. I like the versatility of an iPod, the go anywhere, have all your music kind of deal. My record collection on the other hand... that's a different story.

They're becoming phased out pretty quickly. Antique shops and yard sales are really the only places one can find them, a damn shame. It's such a great medium, if not convenient.

Too true... sigh... though Toad managed to get brand new hi-fi system late last year which included turntable for all my old fart stuff. Neighbours love hearing the vinyl version of Dead Kennedy's Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables at 1am when I've been on the rum!

Lots of vinyl for punk. Check out places like www.profanexistence.com and they have tons of great underground punk bands with vinyl releases, and classics from bands like Amebix, Flux Of Pink Indians, Conflict, and many others. Anyways, finished reading Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas. Great stuff. I also started reading Atheism: The Case Against God, and I plan to start reading Hunter S. Thompson's Hells Angles soon.

Ken Bruen's 'Cross' - very cipped and bleak Irish crime thriller - one of those authors who you read for the first time and think, faarrk, why didn't I discover this bloke years ago. JUst fantastic.
Also just finished ''Joe Hill's'' Heart Shaped Box - not bad at all... could have used an edit here and there and a bit of temperance towards the end, but overall a pretty solid first novel... especially for the son of Stephen KIng!

The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory. Yes, I liked the other one enough to pick this one up, the timeline is screwy, and it is very much fiction, Gregory may be somewhat detached from the reality of it here...LOL... but I think she has a certain flair for the dramatic.....
