From HorrorMovies.caTLA Picks up Epitath Posted By : Meh, Friday Mar,28 Filed Under : Foreign Horror,
TLA Releasing has secured all rights for North America to EPITAPH (2007, South Korea) the directorial debut of the Jung Brothers. The film is scheduled to play New Directors/New Films 2008 in New York and the 17th Philadelphia Film Festival in April with a release in late 2008 through the DANGER AFTER DARK label.
TLA acquired the film from South Korea-based sales company STUDIO2.0; STUDIO2.0 was represented by Eun-Young Choi, Head of International Business; TLA Releasing was represented by Vice President of Acquisitions Jennifer Arndt-Johns. The deal was finalized at the 2008 Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).
EPITAPH begins in the year 1942: the Korean capital of Kyung Sung is occupied by the Japanese and the AnsengHospital lies in the center of the city, representing the twin glories of Japanese Imperialism and western modernization. But mysterious things are happening at the hospital: An intern is bound by his parents to marry a girl whom he never met, but instead is romantically drawn to a corpse; A traumatized little girl, the lone survivor of a horrific car crash, is tortured by bloody visions and a married couple, who are doctors, desperately try to manage their colleagues’ behaviors but find themselves investigating a series of brutal murders. But as the stories unfold and obsessive loves are revealed, the hospital and its staff descend into a darker abyss which they may never return from.
EPITAPH stars Kim Bo Kyung (Blue Sky), Kim Tae Woo (Woman on the Beach) and Jin Goo (Dirty Carnival, A Bittersweet Life) and was a 2007 box-office hit when it was released theatrically in South Korea. The Jung Brothers were also honored with the New Director Award from the 2007 Pusan Film Critics Awards and received international accolades when it screened at the 2007 San Sebastian International Film Festival.
By utilizing exquisite cinematography, sumptuous period costuming and an emotionally involving plot to fuse elements of the supernatural, psychological and copious blood-letting horror, initial press for the film has touted EPITAPH as a reinvention of Korean horror and moving it into a refreshingly, new direction

From HorrorMovie.caThe Machine Girl DVD Date!!! Posted By : jmh314, Sunday Apr,06 Filed Under : Foreign Horror, Horror on DVD,
So here it is ladies and gentlemen, The Machine Girl is coming to DVD. Amazon has Machine Girl up for pre-order, with a release date of June 3rd set. It is being listed as DubSub, which means you can expect this to both have japanese language w/english subtitles and english language over-dubbing. No specs or cover art are yet known, but Amazon has a pre-order sale price of $13.99 running, which I must say is a pretty good deal. The only thing that I am worried about is this being a date changing since it has yet to even see theatrical release in it's native Japan yet...
Machine Girl is about a teenager named Ami who sets out for revenge on a gang of bullies who tortured her little brother to death. She winds up losing an arm along the way, and replaces it with a high-powered gun, Ã la Rose McGowan in Grindhouse. But she doesn't stop at one limb; Ami continues to lose body parts and replace them with more weapons as she is hellbent on revenge. The Machine Girl is slated to be released by Fever Dreams at a TBD 2008 date in Japan.

Yeah, it looks awesome....I can't wait... From HorrorMovies.ca /(follow link to view trailer) OneChanbara Trailer is Here Posted By : Goon, Friday Apr,18 Filed Under : Foreign Horror, Horror Trailers, Zombie,
Hopefully you all remember a little project we introduced to you awhile back. This is the flick with the Japanese Cowgirls and zombies. Yea that should narrow it down to OneChanbara: The Movie. Oddly enough in this trailer they include some footage from the video game that it is based off of.
Based on the popular video game series the pic tells the tale of two scantily clad heroines Aya (Eri Otoguro) and her sister Saki (Chise Nakamura), as they fight to save their home from Zombie attack with nothing more than Katanas, sawn off shotguns and an artfully draped feather boa.

From HorrorMovies.ca (follow link to view trailer) Tokyo Gore Police Second Trailer Posted By : jmh314, Saturday May,10 Filed Under : Foreign Horror,
We have been filling you in on a Japanese film called Tokyo Gore Police for a while and recently Goon posted the first trailer for the film. This trailer was really more like a 4 minute clip reel but now comes a new official trailer that is shorter and a little bit tighter than the first one. Twitchfilm got their hands on the new trailer and it is definately filled with plenty of gore, so the title of the film isnt a let down. This is a film to keep your eye on if you love asian splatter films.
TGP is produced by the same guy who produced The Machine Girl and is directed by first-time director Yoshihiro Nishimura who is no stranger to the asian horror community as he co-wrote Uzumaki and was behind the special FX on films like "Meatball Machine" and "Exte: Hair Extensions". The action sequences are in the very talented hands of Versus star Tak Sakaguchi
Tokyo Gore Police revolves around Luca (played by Eihi Shiina of Audition fame). Luca is a female police officer on a task force that is assigned to kill strange mutants created by a mad scientist called Key Man. She isnt after just mutants as she also seeks revenge for her father's death years ago, something that she strangely has in common with Key Man.

From HorrorMovies.ca( follow link to view trailer) The Butcher Trailer is Here Posted By : Goon, Tuesday Jun,10 Filed Under : Foreign Horror, Horror Trailers,
It looks like some of our "torture porn" films have just hit South Korea because today we have a trailer from The Butcher. Now this film is actually pretty unique in the way it is filmed however taking a que from the recent cinema verite films as well. The Butcher is making its International debut at the New York Asian Film Festival on Saturday, June 21st.
Told entirely through two POV video cameras, The Butcher throws viewers abruptly into the middle of chaos and death: a handful of people have been abducted and lie bloodied and bound on the floor of a rotting slaughterhouse. Nearby, a team of snuff film producers are discussing their gruesome handiwork: torturing their captives to death, one by one, and selling the tapes overseas to foreign audiences hungry for footage of Koreans murdering one another.
The trailer below is pretty graphic so keep that in mind before hitting play. Check it out..

From HorrorMovies.caThe Host 2 Is Coming Posted By : Goon, Thursday Jun,26 Filed Under : Foreign Horror, Horror Sequels & Remakes,
Last we heard about The Host 2 was that the script was written by comic book artist Kang Full and it was going to be a prequel. The film would take place in 2003 when they were restoring the Cheonggye Stream. That stream had been blocked off for 30 years so when they finally go back to restore it they are confronted with a surprise. Full spoke about the project saying, "I wanted to maintain the grace of the original film and to overcome the difficulties and limitations a sequel could have. And I wish to show more action with multiple monsters.”
All of that was relevant until today when Variety revealed the final plans for the film. Korean production shingle Chungeorahm and China's Stone Man Films are going to create a Chinese sequel to the Korean film. Kang Full's script has also been tossed out and now they are using a script written by Ning Hao who will also direct.
This time around the story will deal with a calamity caused when people ignore a monster due to their desire for money. The budget for the sequel will be appoximately $12 million with shooting expected to begin early next year and a release at the end of 2009.
