From Film FanaddictMagnolia Home Entertainment is proud to present THE HOST on Standard edition and Collectors Edition, on DVD JULY 24th! The Collectors edition will be available in standard, Blu Ray and HD Format!
A creature emerges from the Han River’s shores for a feeding frenzy upon onlookers. When a young girl is snatched in the melee, her family set off to recover her from the monster that the government claims to be a host of an unidentified virus.
Crazily funny and wildly entertaining” (Premiere Magazine), THE HOST is a “terrific hybrid-genre fantasy and a seriously scary freakout” (The New York Times). Magnolia Home Entertainment unleashes this spectacular monster movie on DVD, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD July 24. Thrusting a normal, multi-generational family into the middle of an extraordinary event, THE HOST fuses poignant character drama with the larger-than-life conventions of a classic creature feature for a fresh, thrilling and startlingly emotional result “on a par with JAWS” (Ain’t It Cool News). Boasting state-of-the-art special effects from the digital wizards at Weta Workshop (King Kong, Lord Of The Rings) and The Orphanage (Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire, Sin City), THE HOST maintains its humanity – and darkly comic ingenuity – by never losing sight of its offbeat core: the trials of an unremarkable family pitted against a larger-than-life mutant monster. The talk of the 2006 Cannes International Film Festival and the latest film from critically acclaimed director Bong Joon-ho (Barking Dogs Never Bite, Memories Of Murder), “the most original, exhilaratingly scary-funny monster movie in many a season” (LA Weekly) quickly became the highest grossing South Korean film of all time, earning an unprecedented $93 million at the Korean box office…a truly remarkable figure, considering that the country is home to 45 million people. “Destined to become a cult classic” (Instinct Magazine), THE HOST will be available as a standard DVD priced at $26.98 with deleted scenes and commentary by Director Bong Joon-Ho; a two-disc Collector’s Edition priced at $29.98 loaded with four hours of incredible special features; and a HD DVD and Blu-ray version, priced at $34.98, each with bonus materials.

I've heard good things about Silk too. Though The Host actually left me really cold. I like my monsters old-school - rubber suits and Ray Harryhausen sfx.

Silk sounds most intriguing, I'll be looking out for that one. A buddy of mine picked up The Host but had pretty much the same opinion as the Toad. I'll borrow it off him at some point I reckon.

In addition, a fourth bonus disc contains over 2-hours of additional special features not previously available in the US.

When one of the diary’s writers is found dead from an apparent suicide, rumors begin to fly and a strange presence seeps into the hallways filling the students with foreboding dread. Wishing Stairs An urban legend about the staircase behind the school’s dormitory says that if you climb each of the 28 steps, and count them out loud, a 29th step will appear and your wish will be granted. One student knows exactly what she wants. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know that the wishing stairs have consequences. Be careful what you wish for…

From Movies Online It’s just about time to stuff the stocking with something extra fun and twisted this year. Tartan Video Asia Extreme is proud to present P, a racy and sinfully entertaining horror film, set to tantalize and terrorize DVD shelf space December 25th in video stores across the country.
While growing up in rural Thailand, a young and very beautiful orphan girl is taught the mysterious art of dark magic by her grandmother. When her grandmother falls sick, young Dau travels to Bangkok looking for work so that she can earn enough money for medicine. She lands a job as an exotic dancer at a go-go club. Hesitant at first and ridiculed by the other dancers, Dau is forced by circumstances to become an adult before her time and ultimately becomes the most popular and eerily seductive dancer at the club. Jealousies ensue and as her magic gets darker, the young girl gradually loses control as something abhorrently evil and wicked takes over.
An Official Selection of the New York Asian, Chicago International, Fantasia (Montreal) and PIFAN (Korea) Film Festivals, P is directed by Paul Spurrier, a former child actor who appeared in popular US television shows Max Headroom and Anna Karenina.
Thai, with English and Spanish subtitles, P is presented in anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1. Special DVD features TBD.

From Movies Online Reminiscent of the Alfred Hitchcock classic Rebecca, but with a decidedly Chinese supernatural twist, The Matrimony is the third feature film from Mainland Chinese director Teng Hua-Tao. Released under its Asia Extreme label, Tartan Video is proud to eternally join this film with DVD shelf space nationwide on January 15th.
Set in a beautifully recreated 1930’s Shanghai, Junchu (Leon Lai) has fallen into a profound state of depression after witnessing his girlfriend’s tragic death on the day he was to propose to her. Unable to forget Manli, and living in a tortured state of denial and guilt, Junchun’s domineering mother decides to marry him off to Sansan (Rene Liu), a beautiful young woman who she believes will lift her son’s spirits.
The marriage starts off loveless and unconsummated, but Sansan is determined to win his love. One day she the ghost of Manli, still pining for her former lover appears to Sansan. The two quickly strike a deal; Manli will help the new bride, but only if she can temporarily enter Sansan’s body so that she can reconnect physically with her former lover one last time. The plan goes too well and as Junchu begins to fall in love with Sansan, Manli turns from friendly and helpful to jealous and vengeful.
The Matrimony stars Leon Lai Ming, who began his career as a pop singer. Known as one of the "Four Heavenly Kings”, the nickname given to Leon, Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau (some of the biggest performers in Hong Kong’s music scene) Leon has starred in over 40 films. His costar Rene Liu is an award winning actress who can also be seen in Tartan Video’s A World Without Thieves.
Chinese, with English and Spanish subtitles, The Matrimony is presented in anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1. Special DVD features TBD.

From Movies OnlineAnd you thought your high school experience was scary. Tartan Asia Extreme is proud to release its first special edition box-set, The Ghost School Trilogy...Last year I had the good fortune to be on Tartan's mailing list here in the UK and received review copies of these three. Whispering Corridors is great, a very effective and creepy ghost story. The other two were disappointing and Wishing Stairs in particular is clumsy and predictable.
