tough call. That is still a lot of money. I think for that I would probably get a cheaper model. That said, if you had told me it was 3 or 4 hundred I might have had a different reaction. That is like 3 times the cost of a standard bluray player instead of twice the cost like I was figuring

then again, you can always kill two birds with one stone and get a PS3 as your bluray player...

Well, now I know it can't be a great deal. Home audio is just as big an investment as the visual component. Sorry, but for $600 including the bluray player, you can't have a qualifty amplifier and speaker set. That should be the cost of your six or 8 speaker surround set alone. Too many people try to save money on the audio after investing heavily in the visual equipment. To me, that is a mistake. YOu will find that you get more enterrainment value out of a very good surround sound experience than you do off of improved visuals most of the time anyway

The DVD player I have now is the same buit in surround soud and for me it sounds good. Im not looking for the loudest system my living room isnt that big plus I live in a row home. So I just really want clear sound from all sides, the one I have now is also Panasonic, now when the kids move out I will turn my basement into a mancave and then I am going all out, Bose system top of the line tv so on. So for me now this will suffice.

Even though I've heard great things about them, I really have no desire to own Blu Rays at this time. I still use VHS and I'm contented with my DVD's.

I feel like DVDs will probably be around for a while more since they play on Blu-Ray players. No need to ditch them when someone replaces their dvd player with a blu-ray player.
