I think you're both gonna like this one. Think of it like this:
A shot-for-shot remake of one of the best Asian ghost films that was never made
If that sentence makes any sense at all.

Not following you on that sentence GL, lol. It's cheap used on amazon.com though so bless you for that.

I know it was a little confusing, so here's what I really mean:
Everything about it (from the tone, setting, atmosphere, ghosts, action, twists and story development) feels like they were ripped-off scene-for-scene, technique-for-technique, etc. from one of the best Asian ghost films around, only except that Asia never made this film. It's all American to an extent.
Hence, a shot-for-shot remake of one of the best Asian ghost films that was never made.

Just ordered this, so I should get it next week. Probably late next week on account of the national holiday Wesnesday. But I'm excited for it.

I didn't really care for this one as much as I thought I would. Maybe I should have, I love Asian horror, but this seemed a pale imitation of better films to me. The story was kind of bland and predictable in my opinion. And the characters were not all that interesting (especially the husband, who might as well not even been there and considering this was his family that the events surrounded, that is saying something...LOL).
It looks good enough, and there are a couple of good "boo" scares though. And for some reason I got a really good laugh out of the scene in the bedroom, when the son first becomes ill and is talking to Aunt Mei.
And this doesn't really matter much, but I love Michael Biehn, and didn't realize he was in this. When I saw his name at the beginning, it was a nice surprise. But much to my disappointment, he was barely in the film.

Wow, Michael Biehn is in this? That just moved it from a maybe to a definite for me. I am gonna be getting this one too.

I haven't watched much Asian horror so I wouldn't have known if it's overly derivative but I liked it pretty well. I liked the story and thought the performances were pretty good especially by the little boy. I also really liked the style and the visuals of the film. Nice choice GL, I'm happy to have bought it because it would be enjoyable to rewatch sometime down the road.
