I love this film! Definitely has some comedy thrown in there, but it mixes well. Bill Mosely was great as Chop-Top. One of my favorite characters.

Texas Chainsaw is my life. This is a great movie. I love how funny it is. The story lacked a little bit, so I gave it a 4.

I give it a three. It has some really funny moments and is an enjoyable film to watch, but the step down in quality from the original is enormous

I didn't find a huge step down it quality, but can see how people would say that with the sudden turn to a more comical film.

I love this movie. For starters, the music is awesome. The Oingo Boingo song that plays during the bridge chase is cool as hell, and the Stewart Copeland song that plays over the credits rules too. This movie features some of Tom Savini's best work, including the half head decapitation, skinned L.G., Grandpa, Chop Top's head, chainsaw impaled Leatherface, and Grandma. Dennis Hopper, Jim Siedow, and Bill Mosely are amazing in thier roles and Bill Johnson does Gunnar Hansen proud as Leatherface. I hate it when people rip on the comedy elements in the film though, I feel they make the movie that much better. Tobe Hopper knew he could never match the gritty, documentary style of the first film so he went for the complete opposite. A true black comedy masterpiece, along with Dead Alive, Re-Animtor, and Return of the Living Dead.

Go back and watch the original Kevin. Any explanation as such will fall short, and 2 is a totally different beast. The original TCM is basically one of the single most seminal horror films of the modern era. Banned for a while in some places, and heavily cut in others, despite the fact there is very little graphic gore as such.

Not at all. The humour is quite black. And if you don't like a bit of a laugh with your horror then that would exclude an awful lot of movies from the genre - the likes of Army of Darkness, Dusk till Dawn, Braindead and so forth being cases in point.

There is some very black humor in the original as well, by the way. "Ya like headcheese? My brother makes it real good!!!"
