And I'm saying that beyond the name value on the creative side, there was nothing all that great about it.

Couldn't agree more.

So, why'd you rank it so high if that was the only appealing part of the whole experience?

I didn't like the way his face looked but other than that I was very pleased with the NOES remake.
Halloween Friday the 13th TCM
Don't get me wrong I really liked the remake of TCM but nothing will capture the greatness of the original.

NMOES (good, finally Freddy was a little scary again) Friday (ok) TCM (decent enough)

I liked the F13 remake the best, with TCM a clse second due to the sheriff character. The Halloween remake was a load of manure, and the NOES remake, well... I've never been a real NOES fan to start with.

Wow, that could've been said by me almost verbatim. I mean exactly in that exact same phrasing.

I wouldn't be embarrassed, they deserve it for blindly getting in line with the crap he churns out.

I wouldn't be embarrassed, they deserve it for blindly getting in line with the crap he churns out. The characters in his movies all see too " white trashy " for ME. I wonder if he thinks everyone's like that, or if that's what sells.

I've always thought it was apologists building them up because of his music career and throwing themselves blindly in line with the film output.

I agree, but allow me to go on the record and say that, while the first White Zombie record was reasonably enjoyable, the rest of his musical output pretty much blows too.

I only heard the one song from the first album, and I got sick of it after hearing it three or four times. I guess I won't be an apologist any time soon.

I like Rob Zombie....and think he could be a damn good director if he would get over focusing on remakes and trashy characters.....it worked for The Devil's Rejects, which is a favorite of mine.....but what worked there is not going to work for every single film he makes. Wish he would join up with a solid writer that would rein him in a little and focus on original projects, he has a rather nasty sense of humor, a good feel for gore and building up a certain kind of dread.....he just can't write believable characters and dialogue.

Ill agree with the last line of your post. What writer do you think should work with him?
