Did Ralph know that Jason was alive in 1 and 2?

Hehe, good question. Well he seemed to know since he warned the counselors. Or maybe he had just heard the legends?
Or I guess it could be a coincidence. He was crazy and the crazy thing he decided to obsess on just happened to be correct. Like that whole "even a broken clock is right twice a day" type of thing.

Well Paul in 2 said that locals have claimed to have seen Jason in the woods, and Ralph did frequent the lake and woods.

I guess he must have seen him. I wonder if Jason let him live out of pity. Jason probably thought to himself: "Nah, too easy" lol. Or maybe Crazy Ralph just pedaled hard as f*ck on that spiffy bike of his and eluded big J.

Jason killed Ralph in 2...so I do wonder if Jason ever saw Ralph before part 2

Good point. Maybe Jason let Ralph live the first few encounters.
BUT THEN, he was hiding at the edge of the woods and overheard Ralph talking smack behind his back and had enough at that point.
Jason: "That's it, I'm killing this crazy mo'fo."

Lol or his mom in his head told him to kill Ralph, or Jason never had the opportunity. We don't know if Jason killed prior to Pamela's massacre in 1, so maybe her death pushed Jason over the edge and hence why he killed Ralph.

I've always followed on the his babbling happened to be true theory. Notice that in Part 1, he warns them about the curse at the very beginning, he disappears right after from the film, so therefore he couldn't have been around for the massacre at the camp otherwise Mrs. Voorhees would've found him. It's more like he's just trying to pass along the story about their being problems there (he never says it's Jason, just the fact that there's one there on the place without going full-bore into it) so to me, that just says that he's the crazy loon who spills that story to all who comes around as if he think he's doing a public service warning all tourists and trespassers about staying there longer than necessary. The massacre that results allows him credence to his theories and thus tries to warn the cast of part 2, which results in him getting offed as he's still around during the massacre.

Never thought of it like that.

Good point GL, that sounds like as good an explanation as any.

Thanks, guys. It just seems logical to me that he believes it's a public service to warn others about the place (he lives there, after all, so he would be safe if something were to happen since it's always happened to outsiders) so by passing it along, that's his good deed for the day so to speak and continues on, but just got out too late in Part 2 or else he might've been back in Part 3 doing the same thing. He basically just says "It's got a death-curse!" but what else does he say? Nothing, so it seems pretty logical to me in that regard.

Yeah, kind of like the crazy homeless preacher guys warning you about hell. In their warped mind they think they're doing you a service.
Although I guess Ralph was right and they should have listened hehe.

Kinda makes ya wonder if they took him seriously in 1...would Jason have ever become the killer?

I think you have stumbled upon a bit of a plot inconsistancy caused by the fact that when Part 1 was made nobody had any reason to anticipate there would be any sequels. Still, considering the reality that it makes absolutely no logical sense, GL's explanation is pretty damn smooth. Well done, sir.
