Thanks. Will check it out. We refer to them here, by the way, as ''oxygen thieves''.

oxygen thieves over here covers a wide variety of people , from murderers and rapists to people who just don't say anything interesting when they open their mouths. i confess to fall into the latter category at times .

Oh I heard of that movie Feed. Saw the trailer a couple weeks ago. I wanna see it. It hasn't been released over in the U.S. yet. Atleast I don't think so.

Just got doen watching The Yakuza Papers Vol. 1- Battles Without Honor & Humanity. This movie is one of the best movies I have seen! I love it. After seeing Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale and now The Yakuza Papers Vol. 1, I think he is one of my favorite directors. I can't wait to see the rest of The Yakuza Papers series. I highly recommend you guys check these films out.

Caught 'Hidden' (released in the US as Cache) on the weekend. (Toad is still on art-house theatre punishment for subjecting Mrs Toad to Slither recently).
A clever premise about secret surveillance of an ordinary middle-class French family, dealing in themes of guilt and denial (centering on France's collective guilt at the treatment of Algerians nearly half a century ago).
Unfortunately at two hours plus it is overly long and self-indulgent - you feel yourself sitting there thinking 'Alright already, I get the point'.
And the ending is the most unsatisfying, post-modernist let-down I have experienced in a while.

It hasn't received a US DVD release yet (supossed to come out on the 28th I believe). I love Haneke and can't wait to see this. Funny Games is one of my all time favorite films. By the way, I dare you to show the wife Funny Games and Benny's Video. You'll scare herr right off her arthouse kick and back into the rather tame world of silly zombies right quick, lol

To be fair to Mrs T, Toad actually quite likes arthouse.
Zombies are best taken with a couple of beers at 11pm after work., and Mrs T is already tucked up inthe crypt. Last DVD I bought was 2 disc collectors edition of Downfall for $A20. My hands-down favourite film of 2005.

Sweet 16 A very interesting little Scottish film that CT recommended to me. Quite depressing but a pretty solid film overall I love that film, glad you enjoyed it. I hope to buy it on dvd soon.

An old favourite, Bad Lieutenant, And first time viewing of Salo which Phantom lent me... bloody hell but that is a gruellng experience - a powerful and important film, but not one I'd describe as ''enjoyable''. (Officially it's banned in Australia of course )

Salo is a wonderful film. I truly love it, but you are right thaqt it isn't "enjoyable." Now if only we can find a way to force them to offer a Region 1 release dammit! Is that really asking too much? The film has a built in audience due to the hype surrounding the criterion edition
