The first one was Cueto, then the next night Bailey did the same thing.
And you should know you guys have overtaken the Cards and are in first place in the Central.

So, what's everyone's thoughts on the Hanley Ramirez situation? Kinda curious about that.

What happened? He kicked a ball and slowly chased it down is all I can find on si.com lol. That's pretty dicked up.

I was originally asking about the comments he made, not the play, but if you want to go there, I'm cool with it:
In the first inning of the game, he fouled a 95-mph pitch directly onto his shin and spent about 4-5 minutes hobbling around before getting back in the box. He grounded out in the at-bat, but was noticibly jogging down the line during the play rather than hustling the play out.
When he took the field in the third inning, the ball dropped in between him and the left-fielder, closer to him, as when the ball bounced up after hitting the ground, his steps forced him to accidentally kick the ball about 100 feet away from him into the left-field corner, and since they play at home, the left-field corner is about 340 from home plate. While retrieving it, he went into a light jog after the ball, despite their being two runners on base at the time and allowing both of the runners to score and the batter to reach third base, and he easily could've scored on the play had the left fielder had a weak arm since he got there before the ball was thrown in, but was held up anyway.

Well there should have been a 3rd perfect game last night!! Grr!
It was refreshing to see class from both the umpire and the pitcher who got screwed. Most umps/refs never admit they're wrong or apologize even when it's blatantly obvious. At least this guy admitted he was wrong and apologized after the game...

Indeed, congrats on that feat. There's been rumors from the official scorer that they may instead give him a no-hitter in the official scorebook, but I haven't heard anything concrete. I was watching the last three innings of the game and after Jackson's catch, I would've bet vital parts of my anatomy to him getting it (and I was right to make the bet) but I was nearly heartbroken when the play first occurred thinking he was indeed safe as I thought his footwork indicated he couldn't find the bag before the runner got there (and missing in all of this is the fact that the runner hustling out of the box instead of simply phoning it in and conceeding the Perfect Game doesn't make this a close-play at the bag giving it the opportunity to be botched since he very easily could've lolly-gagged it down the line so I give him credit on that) but I think I was just as angry as the Tigers bench when I saw the replay. However, to your point, the after-game interviews on all sides (from Leyland's handling of the umpire to Galarraga's class and the umpires humility) everyone did it perfectly and it was beyond refreshing as everyone could've simply said "That bastard ruined history for us, fuck him" and the ump could've just blown it off, so all three handled it perfectly.
And a sadder note, Congrats to Griffey for retiring. He was my favorite player on my favorite team growing up (and in little league, we took our uniforms after the Mariners several times because of him) and now perhaps joins as illustrious a Hall of Fame class as there has ever been. I'm not sure about his qualifiications this season due to him retiring mid-season (I'll have to check up on how Schmidt was handled when he did it) but he could concievably enter with Tom Glavine, Randy Johnson and Frank Thomas, or at the very least, the year after. The Class of 2014 just got a lot more interesting, especially when you look at those who fail in the four years to come that come close enough to get it in the next year of eligibility.

Well, he hit homers 500 and 600 in a Reds uniform, so his HoF qualifications came as a Red. I wouldn't say it was a complete waste, although maybe if you count the timing of when he actually did instead of when he was supposed to.
