My mind was firmly made up as to the lack of quality by the cynical, leering and lascivious scene in which a now grown up Danielle Harris meets her end. A scene designed by and for wankers. Lame. That scene bothered my husband very much, I was a little surprised because......well, nothing really bothers him. As far as the sequel, from what I am hearing, everyone except for me will probably hate it....LOL.... So proceed with caution (well, okay, my tastes are so weird, you should always proceed with caution when its a film I like...haha ) Where I thought it was an entertaining mess with some interesting ideas....most others just seem to think its a mess.

This was a HUGE step up for the bore-fest known as RZH. The kill were amazing until they got to the party and the wolfman and chick were killed in van. Those kill were throw away kills. The next good one was before the car flip which was cool even though I though I wouldn't like it.
The obvious flaw was the ghost mom. I guess ANYTHING to put your wife in a movie will write it's own storyline?
Overall I had lot's of fun watching it! Very cool flick.
I actually loved the two characters that bored the shit out f me in the remake... Brakette and Loomis. I thought they were amazingly mind numbingly boring in the remake. They were absolutely perfect in this movie! AMAZING improvement!
I was really disappointed that Annie's long awaited death was off screen. How stupid... who thought that would be a good idea? I wish the little flash backs showed much more!
LOVED the true white trash of Laurie and Annie! Loved the Alice Cooper poster in the bathroom! Great touch!
The Rabbit in Red scenes had to be the coolest for me. Just a much better movie but leave it to Rob to F it up with that horse and ghost shit. What... is his mom so sweet in part 1, that she cant even handle what Michael became. Yet in this she is a cheap version of Mrs. Bates? How was little Michael holding Laurie down at the end? Can she really share vision of a deranged brother so intensely that it had so much power of her as to physically have hold of her through her mind? Or was the mom not just an illusion of Michael but a real evil guiding force who now controls Laurie?
Let's face it a lot of flaws but it's just not enough to make this movie not freakin cool man.
7.5
Woulda been 8 with no mommy.

I was going to see this at a matinee, but decided I'd wait for the DVD-watch the film and then watch with audio commentary form RZ to get the FULL perspective.

I can't wait for Halloween 2 to come out on DVD, I'll be first in line to pick it up. People here who know me from CLAD know how much I liked the remake, and I think this sequel was a worthy addition to the franchise. Brad Dourif was great as Sheriff Brackett, he's truly one of the most underrated actors out there, IMO.

I saw this and I honestly, as much as i liked the first one HATED this one. I do like the actors in this movie, theyre all great but it gets sooo confsuing with Lauries dreams about Michael. Because you keep thinking it's real then when he does come back it becomes just weird. Him talking was the biggest thing that made me angry. Even though he said 1 word that was enough to make me hate this. Also it confuses me as to how exactly he lived. Laurie at the end of Halloween 1 was on top of him had the gun a few inches away from Michaels face and then it went off. Nobody can survive a gunshot wound ( from a 357. magnum no less) to the head without immeadate medical attention. I was also disappointed to not see Daeg Faerich reprise his role as child Michael, Speaking of which why do we need a BS explanation to Michaels madness? It was already explained in the first one, For example, The fact that his family life was horrible and he was picked on had something to do with the massacre. Then being locked away, Isolated and alone made him go deeper into insanity. That's it. He isn't a Schizophrenic like Jason Voorhees, He is just mentally disturbed and evil. Also it didn't make sense as to why Laurie saw the mom at the end. How the hell would she see what Michael sees? She has no idea what she looked like at all so at any rate Laurie would just have to guess as to what she looked like. And when Michael dies why does Laurie say she loves him? I mean he ruined her life. He killed Judith and Ronnie ( They weren't great people but they were family even if Ronnie was the stepfather) He then killed her freinds and family and made her life a living nightmare. So it would make sense for her to despise him not for her to say that she loved him. And finally the ending was ( like the mommy dream sequences) ripped off from another famous horror movie, Psycho. Literally the exact same thing except laurie saw Mommy whereas Norman Bates heard his moms voice still. But they both smile evily into the camera and it's a blatant ripoff. Now I did like some things like the Nights in white satin part ( Where the song played, god it's an amazing song) Brad Douriff will always be sheriff Brachett to me. He was just such a great choice and also at times when Laurie freaks out about Michael being her brother and how she handles the horrible event that happened a year prior was done well. Scout Taylor-Compton was a great Laurie Strode and the sad part is tho, laurie was such a bitch in both films it's kinda sad. But one last thing, Loomis was a prick. I can stand him being a somewhat of a jackass in the first one ( With him trying to cash in the story of Michael Myers) but even then he had compassion and in the alternate ending to the first one he shows a genunine care for Michael Myers. Here he's just an asshole to Laurie Strode. Which is unesscary, she went through enough with Michael Myers so why did Loomis act an asshole to her? In a nutshell. Movie sucked and has de-throned Halloween Resurrection as the worst Halloween i have ever seen. A 1/10

I haven't even considered seeing this one yet to be honest. I hated Zombie's first one so much that I see no purpose in watching the sequel. then again, I thought House of 1000 corpses was pretty bad and really like Devil's Rejects so maybe this also was an improvement and is worth a look. When it comes on cable and I can see it for free maybe I'll take a look, but I don't plan on paying for it

That's exactly the feelings I have so far:
Thought House was utterly terrible, but liked Devil's Rejects. Absolutely hated the original, so let's hope he makes up for it with this one, although from what I've read, I don't see much hope of it turning around.

I thought House of 1000 corpses was pretty bad and really like Devil's Rejects so maybe this also was an improvement and is worth a look. I don't think this one is an improvement in quality so much as its just not boring in the way the first one was, and I think there are individual moments that are really good. But its still a mess. In fact, its more of a mess than his first one, but in my opinion, in a weird way that makes it more unique and more entertaining. I can certainly see why people hate it though. It just made me wish he had another writer to work with that could rein him in when it comes to characterization....in The Devil's Rejects the fact that almost every character is trashy, dirty and unlikeable works.....here it doesn't. If he had a good writer to work with and decided to make original films again, I think he definitely has the talent, he's just not a good writer.
