As we speak the greatest band around to date, which has been around for 32 glorious years, is on tour. I'm talking KISS. That's right, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are coming to america. So far they have four concerts in Japan, with two concerts set up in Santa Ynez California.

I just hope that KISS comes to Virginia. Any of you KISS fans? I am, lol, I'm in the KISS ARMY!

I can't say I'm a huge fan but I was when I was younger. Alive was one of the first rock/metal albums I owned along with Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Creatures of the Night is definitely my fave Kiss album. Destroyer rules too.

KISS are such sell outs. Especially Gene Simmons with his School of Rock show on Tv and stuff. I think they are really over rated.

The only real song from them I liked was the disco song "I Was Made for Loving You," and I'm not that big on them to begin with. Like LdC, I think they're overrated, but only because I don't really like any of their songs. I'm jhust not a fan, yet ironically, the Family Guy episode with them is one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen. I think it was really funny.

Of course KISS are sellouts LDC. THey started out as sellouts. For God's sake they went on stage in full makeup and breathed fire and sold dolls and had comics and cartoons from day one. I am also not a big fan of KISS, but they are no more sellouts or poseurs than your average BM band in stupid corpsepaint rattling on about Satan endlessly. Any band more concerned with selling me an image than making compelling music sucks in my book. Alice Cooper and KISS do get some credit in my book for inventing the whole Grand Guignol rock theater thing. I just personally find it to be one of the most juvenile and pointless trends in all of music.

Very true. There are still alot of qaulity BM bands out there. That goes for any genre though. Especailly the punk genre lately. I was never into it that much, but now it seems punk has become whatever the newest Greenday music video is.

Yerah, Punk... enjoy the show.
You are right about most pop-punk, LDC. As I'm sure you already realize, though, pop-punk is an oxymoron. Good Charlotte and all that teen idol crap is complete garbage. The great punk bands don't make a hell of a lot of money, they don't trade on an easily commercialized image, and they sure don't sell a lot of records. Real punk basically died in the mid 80's and has been endlessly rehashed by record company stooges who want your money. If you wnat to hear a good punk record, pck up the new Mission of Burma record. They've been around since the 70's and they are still awesome.

I hear people in school saying that Greenday is real punk...damn I just want to throw up. lol

I actually know a lot of people into punk who like Kiss. Especially the first three albums. And some of the best metal bands have covered Kiss songs. Death and Iced Earth both covered "God of Thunder", Iced Earth also did "Creatures of the Night", Anthrax covered "Parasite", and Six Feet Under did "War Machine"(my all-time favorite Kiss song). I'll also say this, If I had a choice between Dead Kennedys or Kiss to listen to, Kiss would win instantly.

You might not know, undead, but the Power Metal group Hammerfall covered "Detroit Rock City" on one of their albums.
