The original is on the short list for scariest movies ever made. There is nothing to be gained by remaking this When I first heard about the remake, I pretty much said the same thing. Then the MORE I heard, the more excited I got about seeing it on the big screen. I think....its nostalgic for me, I guess. I saw the original at the drive in with my parents, and VERY few films have scared me the way it scared me. And when I saw the poster, well, I thought damn, how great would it be if they managed to make Freddy scary again? And then last night, I watched the teaser trailer.....and I saw the glove and then there was "the scene" and I actually got chills....LOL....and by the scene, I mean the remake's version of the scene that scared me so bad, my parents had to take me home.... But there were other parts of the trailer I wasn't too happy about. So I KNOW I am going be disappointed. I just know it. But right now, I can't wait to see it. Leatherface: I wondered the same thing, if they were implying Krueger's innocent. But then I figured it was a desperate bid on his part to stop by being burned alive, its not like he would admit to it, I suppose. But if he really IS innocent....I don't know how I feel about that at all. In fact, that might kill it for me....*sighs*

In the remake Freddie was innocent of killing/molesting any children and the reason why he wants to attack the elm street kids is because he was unjustly killed. I don't really see the need to change the fact that when Freddie was a human he was still incredably evil. Now he's just a demonic being that's pissed off for being killed for a crime he didn't commit lol.

To me human freddy will always be the springwood slasher not the wrongly accused victim. making him the victim ruins it for me. i mean would someone who was "innocent" really be a horrific person? no. hell i can see it now as the heroine tries to feel sorry for freddy. thus i have decided to not see this. it goes against what i always believed what freddy was.

Yeah, dammit....I was really hoping they didn't go that way. But from what I understand, its a mystery. From what I have read, we won't know if he is innocent or not, in the beginning.

Yeah that would be awful if they make him wrongly accused. This is a remake of ANOES not To Kill A Mockingbird...

great this is gonna be like a "anti-hero" freddy basically...jsut amazing...freddy krueger isn' some tragic monster like jason. he is a cruel despicable and sadistic sociopath. not what he is probably gonna be depictated here. writing freddy isn't rocket science.

Ugh, so many different viewpoints, so little of them make sense. Just goes to prove why it's the most overrated series of films in the genre and why I have no interest in ever seeing any of the originals and why I utterly hate the fact that this is being remade. It's just not worth it at all to have to go through this much torture on something I don't think is worth it right now.

It's like the remakes are trying to turn both Freddy and Michael (visions of his mom?) into Jason.

Yeah, making Freddy sympathetic just doesn't work....it will work even less than it did with Michael Myers...... I still want to see the movie before I make a judgment though, because I am not sure that is the direction they are going with this. I mean I have to imagine they realize that it wouldn't even really make sense. I mean, if he's completely innocent, who built the glove? Why would he fixate on the kids? I just don't see how they would think that would work at all. But who knows, remakes do so often completely miss the point.....

Yeah you're right Jen. Razor, are you sure of this info and where did you get it? The rumors are all over the place, and apparently a few people I have talked to have read the script (or a script, anyway). I personally have heard/read several different things though.

i managed to get a good look at freddy and ya know his burned appearance doesn't do it. he looks...boring. the original design of freddy consisted of puss coming from the sores teeth coming out from the jaw and piece sof his skull showing on his head and right eye. now if they did that look i'd be impressed. BTW that look can eb found on the NOES 1 and 2 posters

Read it on the IMDb page. Hopefully it's just a rumour though as it's a VERY bad direction to go with Freddie.
