It's been scientifically proven that IMDb is not the most accurate when it comes to that kind of info. When it's reported on a major news site (Bloody-Disgusting, Dread-Central, etc.) then give it some thought. But if you're just basing it on what's there, it most likely isn't accurate.

Scientifically proven? I agree that Imdb is often innacurate, but are they really conducting experiments and studies as to its accuracy? I sure hope not since there must be something better for talented and educated scientists to do with their time.
In any case, the only thing I still use Imdb for is the forums. They are always interesting

I use imdb to see what other movies certain actors Have been in and that kind of thing. I wouldn't believe what is said about upcoming movies. I wouldn't perform scientific studies there either for that matter haha.

no way in hell am i seeing another sympathetic slasher flick. the idea of us feeling sorry for the slasher is ludicrious and flat out stupid. it didn't work for michael myers. it didn't work for jason voorhees and it will not work for freddy krueger. he was a child killer and pedophile in the originals and that is how i'll always see him as someone who was just evil not "wrongly accused" or "misunderstood" he'll probably have a cliche childhood flashback too.

Maybe having a pedophile as a horror icon is Considered politically incorrect these days?

even still he was a child murderer and was guilty of it. never innocent. and back in 84 the child killer pedophile thing wasn't politically correct then either. thats why itt wasn't mentioned or even hinted til the later seuqels. i already hate the remake. but as for Jackie. none of this is his fault and he'll still be a terrific actor no matter what but as for the remake

Yeah good point about it never being mentioned. But they want it to be remade squeaky clean so controversy won't hurt their profit. I agree it is BS.

what controversy could be created with that? lol i mean i'm not mad at you but did you know that wes got the idea of freddy killing people in their dreams by an actual event that happened in the early 80s? it was almost an epidemic of people wo died in their sleep becuase their nightmares caused them to have heart attacks? and he got the name " A Nightmare On Elm St" from a dallas newspaper about JFKs assasination which was on Elm Street. all of this was controversial back in 84. and also wes made two very disturbing films prior to NOES. so today it still would not be a big deal. The reason why we got clown freddy in the later sequels was because he was so evil in nightmares 1 and 2 that in 3 they toned hhim down. i was hoping they'd make the remake like a mix of 1 and 2. oh well

Because Freddy is considered an icon by some, and promoting a pedophile icon might hurt a corporations image. Follow the dollars.

that is true. but still no matter what even if someone offered me 1 billion dollars, immortality, never age, and the endless pizza in the world to see the NOES remake i still will not see it.

I'm holding out until the film comes out and I hear something definitive, because like I said, I have heard a couple of different things. Someone else from another forum I visit told me something completely different, and he read the script (or again, A script). And one thing I will say, from what I have heard from everyone that I have talked to that claims to have read the script, it doesn't seem they have made it squeaky clean, the pedophilia angle is there (innocent or guilty). But without seeing the movie, or talking to someone later that DOES see the movie there is no way to know for sure (weren't there rewrites?). All I get from the trailer for sure is that he is trying his best to keep from being burned alive by Clancy Brown, hard to blame him there....guilty or innocent....LOL.... We'll see, I figure, like I said, I will be disappointed. I WILL NOT be happy if they turn Freddy into a sympathetic victim, as I was really hoping this would make him pretty sinister again.

Because Freddy is considered an icon by some, and promoting a pedophile icon might hurt a corporations image. Follow the dollars. Yeah they started to tone him down once he became the poster boy for New Line Cinema, as in 'the house that Freddy built' Kind of hard to have the icon for your company be a pedophile and chils murdrer. Personally I hoped for a very dark Freddy since the character naturally gravates that way in terms of the mythology of being a dream demon and everything. I have a feeling I might be disappointed.
