I second HNTs opinion, especially about the lizards and mummies. 2 insect categories is perhaps justified due to the vast amount of them.

Seems a bit too particularized to me. Personally, for example, I think that flying and non-flying insects can be evaluated together. I also think that Alligators and Crocodiles should not be seperated from Lizards generally, as they are lizards. I don't think mummies are creatures at all. I think that they are traditional movie monsters, and if you include them than you might as well ask for the best vampire or werewolf film on this list, which you clearly have not done. Anyway, that is my two cents. Still like the idea, and whether you agree with me or not I look forward to playing To deal with each of these: 1. The flying/non-flying ones are now grouped together in the Killer Insects one, and I switched over the non-flying one from the first list into the Earthen-Creature Features, which is snails, slugs, ants, scorpions, termites, and the like. Not really true insects, but rather those that are still grounded so to speak. I'll fudge when we do it and will accept reanimated objects based on features of the Earth (rocks, trees, etc.) so it'll truly be Earthen creatures. 2. There's a lot more Alligator and Crocodile films than you would expect there to be, same goes for the Mummy films, so they're going in separate listings. They're separate, there's a bunch of them, and it's my list. 3. I'd be more than willing to include vampires and werewolves in the listings as long as there's support for them (and I'll throw my vote to doing so) but they were initially left off since you never meet anyone who thinks of those two distinct genres as creature features. They've been listed for a long time by most of us as separate genres, not as creature features, so I never really put much thought into doing them, but hey, if you guys want to do so, I'll throw my vote to doing so. Just thought I'd say this so you'll know where I'm coming from.

Fair enough. Add my vote to yes on doing vampires and werewolves. Also zombies if we're gonna go that route

Yeah, I don't think so on the zombies. I'll fudge the werewolves/vampires one since they're pretty close, but the point of this is Creature Features. Zombies are so far removed from the purpose of this that there's no real justification for including them in this project.
Besides, they have they're own section and it'll just be a Night/Dawn battle anyway, so what's the point? But really, they're not even close to what we're doing here that it's missing the point of doing this.

How's a mummy a creature. Isn't it a dead person like zombies?

I'll give you there's similarities to zombies, but frankly, we don't talk about them and I want us to. There is a lot of them out there, yet no one talks about them, so by including them, it gives us a chance to do so.
As I mentioned earlier with the zombie issue, they have their section here, they don't need to be included in this. There's very little need to discuss them, and combined with having little in common with creatures, the exclusion is warranted. Mummy films are common enough, DVD Aficionado credits them as being creature features, therefore I say they're good enough.

I think CT is correct that mummies are no more creatures than zombies, but I am also in agreement with GL to a degree that we should have more discussions of mummies and I am prepared to. So, I see where GL is coming from, but the reasoning is a little weak

Yeah. I'm good with the list GL. We talk about zombies plenty and mummies rarely so it's a good idea to include them.

Fair enough, all.
Jen, if you're still reading this, by Monday I should have a fairly good-sized list of most of the genres we're going to talk about, and if you're offer to help out on additional titles is still good, I'll send you what I have by then and see what you can come up with. That way we'll have just about a complete comprehensive listing and it'll be good to go.

What I'm doing now is just getting the films into place, so there'll be here sooner than you think.
Actually, since you mention it, I'll get my list so far up tomorrow so you guys can help with some placing and whatnot so we know where we're going with this, and hopefully you can help out on an important matter Jen and I have discussed so far that will be greatly beneficial to this project.

Well, thanks guys. If you're going to help out, it's pretty simple:
1. Keep it horror. Crossing over into other genres is fine, but if it could reasonably be called horror, put it in. There's a couple choices I think some will find questionable, but there's still some semblance of horror in the majority of them, so I chose to keep them.
2. Anything works as far as eligibility once it's determined it's horror. Any country, any time-period (silent, talky, anime, etc.) as well as for any method of release. I've got theatrical stuff, made-for-TV as well as Direct-to-Video fare on my stuff, so anything and everything counts.
3. It has to be a full-length effort. Absolutely no TV shows, anthology entries, short films or the like. Full-length or not interested. And for the record, I count full-length as 55 minutes on onward, as some of the films from the 40s were quite short to fit on the double bills and such, but it's still got to be a full-length effort.
4. I've got several titles up that have alternate main release names, so they've got notes on them indicating which one I'm referring to.
5. If you're unsure of which genre they go into, put them here and we'll be happy to help you out. They should be fairly easy to assume where they're placed once you see the list and where I've placed stuff so far, but again, any questions, let me know.
Here's the listings so far: Alien Creature Features Alligator/Crocodile/Lizard Creature Features Earthen-Creature Creature Features Killer Bird Creature Features Killer Cat Creature Features Killer Dog Creature Features Killer Fish Creature Features Killer Insects Creature Features Prehistoric-Creature Creature Features Rodent Creature Features Sasquatch/Bigfoot Creature Features Sea-Creature Creature Features Snake Creature Features Spider Creature Features
And we are doing Vampire and Werewolf films as well, but I'll be damned if I'm going to list all the stuff for either genre.
Now, the area Jen and I were discussing was adding in another grouping of Nature Run Amok types, although a proper title wasn't settled on. This would be for stuff like Black Sheep, Night of the Lepus, Grizzly, Razorback, Congo, etc. where it's still a creature feature but doesn't fall into the proper listings we've started above. Full help and titles for that would be most appreciated.
