I suppose you could do the nature run amok section. If you are gonna do that, I think maybe Attack of the Killer Tomatos has to be included.

I'll leave that up for the others, but I wouldn't mind it were it to be included. I've never seen it, but it's not a bad thing if it were to be included.

Oh yeah, Body Snatchers I agree if you are going to take a liberal view of what constitutes a creature. I think you should, but then I will also suggest The Day the Earth Stood Still and War of the Worlds. Independence Day (much as I hate it) also probably belongs on the list. And, a favorite of mine, It Came From Outer Space

Well, first, before we start adding (which I'm all in favor of) I'd like to make sure we all agree on what we have so far. Based on what I put up yesterday, does everyone agree on the rankings? Any that should be moved? Anything removed? I figured on a couple might getting the boot, but based on the choices offered here I think I'm safe.
And speaking of the choices, I don't really see much that should stay. I've never seen Body Snatchers so I don't know anything about it, but Day the World Stood Still has a humanoid and not a real alien so that's out. War of the Worlds and Independence Day are both Sci-Fi with no horror at all (and in either case, it should be murderous aliens, not ones that don't even lay a hand on a human in the film. Remember, we're still doing creature features after all, and they're not what this is the purpose of) so I'd call both of those gone. It Came from Outer Space, though, that's a good one. I'll add that one, as well as a couple more:
The Thing from Another World The Thing The Puppet Masters
True, most of them are Sci-Fi, but there's a semblance of horror to them.

Okay, so if we're going to add the Nature Runs Amok genre, here's a starter list I've got, again help, questions and comments are welcome:
The Ape Man Beasts (1983) Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla Black Sheep Blood Monkey The Bloody Ape The Bride and the Beast Bride of the Gorilla Captive Wild Woman Claws Congo Danger Island Day of the Animals Dr. Moureau’s House of Pain The Edge Feral Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo The Gorilla Grizzly Grizzly Park Grizzly Rage The Hunt The Island of Dr. Moureau () The Island of Dr. Moureau () Island of the Dead (2000) Link Long Weekend (1978) Long Weekend (2008) The Mighty Gorga The Monster Maker Monster on the Campus Night of the Lepus Prey for the Beast Primal Rage Prophecy (1978) Razorback Shakma There’s Nothing Out There Wendigo The Wild Beasts
And the earlier post is still valid as well.

Seems fine to me. Lets get one of these genres up for people to vote on, eh?

Great, guys. All we need is a voting system and we're good to go. I don't think we officially agreed on one.

How about everybody picks their three favorite choices in order. A number One choice is worth three points, a number two worth two points, and a number 3 worth one point. That way, we should be able to further limit the liklihood of a tie. Also, I think it was definitely important to have a list in order to direct the voting somewhat, but I am not opposed to allowing write in votes now. What do you think?

The opening/ranked voting system is great, and to further it, what say we add a little wrinkle to your original thought in the interest of adding more discussion to this:
1. We bump it up to five selections per category.
2. The scoring will thus be altered as such: First-10 pts. Second-7 pts. Third-5 pts. Fourth-3 pts. Fifth-1 pt.
3. The list of choices will be available, though if an entry is found for a genre we haven't crossed yet, it will be included here so it can be placed there when it comes time to do that genre.
Now, if you all agree to that system, we'll start this tomorrow. I'll choose the genre at random, and will run it until the first of August (it'll run from now until July 31, so as to make it effectively one-month due to the early start time) and will then start a new one the first of every month, again chosen at random leaving this thread open for debate over inclusion of certain films in their chosen genre.

My only problem is 5 is a lot of choices for some of the categories where many people have probably just seen a few of the options, and I think the points winners are mainly just going to be the ones everyone has seen..

I never said you had to use five. Just five is the maximum amount to count for this. If you don't need all those options (which should tell you more about your viewing habits than anything else) don't use that many.

I agree that five is two many. Particularly when you start off with a genre like Abominable Snowmen and Bigfoots which I know next to nothing about. I would have to think about it to come up with 3 films I've seen in that genre, never mind five.

There's some of them I'm not going to have five, so I'm cool with it. It gives us more to talk about, lets you guys search out more films that the rest of us are heaping praise upon, and like I said, if you don't need that many slots, don't use them. You're still offering up the top three, so the scores will still be the same, and a list was provided for you all. I really don't see too much of a problem, I guess.
