Exakery - my ''favourite'' horror flick can be the one I saw most recently... and I'll confess here to getting mucho guilty pleasure out of AVPR for example

Saw this movie for the first time tonight. I liked it quite a bit and it was better than I expected. The highlight by far were the excellent kills and wonderful looking gore as this was the unrated version. I never saw the TCM remake so I can't contrast it with that one or determine how much of a rehash it was, but this one was entertaining and had me cringing quite a bit. I thought the ending was fine. Not original, but I wasn't expecting originality considering the source. If anything it racked up three more gory kills (the 2 cops obliterated by the car). We're horror fans, we suddenly don't tolerate killers speedily appearing at seemingly impossible distances?
3/5

But I still enjoyed the movie, we even own it, so it didn't ruin it for me....so I tolerated it....I just thought it was.....well, stupid...LOL. Still liked it a hell of a lot better than I expected to though.

I think I was kinda ready for it to end so I was glad leatherface made quick work of it so I could go do something else, hehe.

I echo your thoughts as well, Jen. Much better than I thought it would be, though where did you find the stupidity? I admit that stuff mostly goes over my head unless it's pointed out to me, I have difficulty in finding it on my own.

I fixate on little details too much sometimes, but not all the time, I think it depends on my mood when I watch the movie. Anyway.... I didn't like they actually had Leatherface in the car, a huge guy with a chainsaw probably wouldn't go unnoticed hunkered down in the back of car, even by someone in a panic. He's just too big and so is his choice of weapon, for that to make any sense to me at all.

For me, though, when I get to scenes like that, I jump at the fact that he pops up out of nowhere and totally forget about your 'spoiler' since I lose myself into the film, and to me, as long as I can find some credibility in the premise, I don't notice stupidity like that at all.

I enjoy watching this one more than the Remake and all but the orignal TCMs. They actual embraced the cannabalism angle rather than ignoring it like the Remake did. I loved watching Leatherface's coming of age for lack of a better phrase. I also liked what they did with Hoyt/Charlie, how they made him the driving force behind their decision to kill and eat other humans. Plus the final voice over was iconic.

I just saw this for the first time with Fire on our weekly chat/date, what we call our "Date night" Fire tricked me into watching it I thought it was a sequels to the original, not a sequel to the remake, so it was a bit confusing for a bit. Normally I don't do remakes, but I guess since this wasn't actually a remake, its OK. It was actually pretty good

I skipped the remake but enjoyed this one as well Brax. In fact I own it and have only seen it once so a repeat viewing may be in order.

Yeah I couldn't figure out why the characters were acting so different from the way they were portrayed in the original. And why they were living in Franklin's grand daddy's house, and the other house didn't even exist. I guess they didn't study the original very well when they made the remake......used the wrong house.

I know I'm just so evil, I'm slowly wearing down your remake principles one film at a time. Its all part of my master plan I'm glad you liked it Brax, just wish I hadn't tricked you into watching it. I thought you knew what I meant, so I guess I owe you one.

Wow, didn't even realize it was the wrong house. I'll have to give it a go and find out, that could be something I missed the first time around with this one.
